Things are changing..

Since Monday, Anne has been in bed almost all day, every day.  Yesterday (Wednesday) morning, she woke up and wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and a coke, and she ate all of her sandwich!  By last night, she didn't want to eat at all, and it was a struggle to get her to eat any of her pudding.  She woke up at 2am and didn't go back to bed until 6am when Doug left for work.  Today, we were supposed to get blood drawn at her doctors office for her Coumadin levels, and when I was trying to get her out of bed and dressed, she was just way to tired to even support herself.  I had to call the home healthcare nurses to get someone to come to the house to draw her levels for us.

As for eating today, she hasn't had much of anything.  She ate half of a small container of jello, and that has been it.  She is very tired today, and there still seems to be quite a bit of confusion.  Most of her confusion seems to be at night, but she still has a lot during the day.  After chemo on Monday, she couldn't get her days straight, and finally, today she was able to tell me that it was Thursday!  Even during her times of confusion, there are little glimmers of memory that pop up. The other night, she remembered when Sam was little and climbing on top of a swing set, and  when he asked her if she remembered, she responded with "yeah, I didn't want to look!"

After asking the oncologist on the phone today, it has been determined that all treatments for the cancer (chemo and radiation) will stop.  Hospice will come in and keep her comfortable and help with pain management.  We will know more Saturday, as well as the 26th when we meet with the Oncologist again.  Please keep Anne and everyone else in your thoughts and prayers.  All of this is happening so much faster than we all thought.  It's devistating news to hear, and we are all having a hard time with it.
