February 21st- 23rd

Brenda started out with a bang, Thursday afternoon it was reported that she had contracted MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria) and we have not been told the type, but this requires us to wear a gown and gloves during visitation. Antibiotics is a possible course of action. By Saturday she was able to stay off the Ventilator for 72 hours! Her daily work with the Therapist continues. Friday they removed her Trach and installed a smaller fenestrated Trach which will make using the CAP to speak easier for Brenda. They also removed her catheter. At this time she only has a feeding tube. She is NOW on schedule to go to Miami Valley Rehab floor (ZONE A Fourth (4th) Floor) within the next 7 days, give or take a couple of days.
