Lots of steps forward
This afternoon was busy -- Michelle had her catheter taken out (so now she's peeing on her own), had the epidural turned off (it will be taken out later tonight), and got oxycodone to replace the epidural for pain (it's intravenous, but she controls how often it releases a dose - so far she hasn't suffered the ill effects she had with morphine three weeks ago). Michelle also went for a scheduled chest X-ray, but she's had only a tiny bit of phlegm and Doctor Kate can't hear any fluid in her lungs. All good signs of progress in recovery from her operation!
Her room also filled up, and one of the new roommates is grumpy. I hope she gets a good night's sleep!

Although what I really want to hear is that you're instantly well, recovered...good as new... A la Dowton Abbey- where problems arise and are instantly resolved (unless you're Bates and Anna)... I am relieved to hear that you're on the other side and making real progress. I'm grateful for the updates and look forward to seeing your sweet face when we come to England in June. Doubtless it's not easy- but keep up the good work!! Xoxo
Watch this video, it is piss your pants funny! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWP4U-8wyck I figure now that you can piss your own pants you might just take the opportunity. The gorilla will really make you laugh! I love you too sooooooo much. Thank you for keeping us posted. Hugs, Allison
Hello Michelle, that a HUGE incision! Keep up the bananas, they are fantastic for you if you are able to. Wonderful to hear you are doing so well and so many of the physical intrusions are gradually being taken away. Eventually all this will just be a bad memory. Hugs (gentle ones) from Australia! Karen xxx
This is all great news! I'll bet you are LOVING being able to pee on your own. Glad to hear there are no grumbly things in your lungs even if there is a grumbly jperson in your room! And taking out the epidural? Heavenly! Keep up the good work! Kathy
Well, farting and peeing on your own are pretty great things. Sounds as though -- miserable though you may be at times -- you're doing well. We're rooting for you!
Karen, yep the incision is massive. This is officially the end of my career as a bikini model! Ha ha. Seriously, as long as I survive the I don't care about the scar at all. Thanks for the gentle hugs from oz.
Dear Michelle, my pleasure - try to imaging international hugs for you and Bruce every day xxx ooooooooooo
