There's a world out there!
Today Bruce took me through the double doors at the end of my ward and I got to see a whole new corridor! With pictures of bluebells and windows looking over a courtyard garden (which is too cold and wet to visit right now). I feel like the Lewis & Clark of the Churchill Hospital.
It was a busy morning; I had another visit from the physio and learned how to roll in and out of bed when it is flat (since we don't have a fancy motorized bed at home - I'm going to miss this hospital bed!). Hilda the "shower queen" put on her wellies and gave me a scrub in the shower. That was the best thing that happened today! Ruth visited from the chaplain's office and I asked her to pray for poops.
The cancer specialist nurse came and we talked through next steps. The doctors will meet about my case next week, looking at blood work, histology, scans, etc., and come up with a treatment plan. But we probably won't meet with them to get this information until at least Monday the 21st. Until then we won't know anything about what type of tumor it is, or what sort of chemo I may have. I will post news as we have it.
It was the first time since my operation that I've thought about more than one day ahead - the prospect of long term treatment, maybe not being able to do much for the next 4 months, and not even knowing how serious the disease is has been quite hard. I'm pissed off the cancer is screwing up our sabbatical, and I don't like canceling vacations! Having a calendar that is devoid of anything but doctors appointments is so depressing. The best thing you can do for both Bruce and me is to plan a fun adventure when I'm feeling better, so that I have something to look forward to.

So happy you are up and about. Thank you Bruce for taking Michelle to a new view. We are just holding the best thoughts. The very best I'll continue to pray Love to you sweetie Mom
A shower with wellies . . . did she hose you down, or what? Glad to see you're moving! Gordon
God answers all prayers, so expect some quality toilet time. Have reading material handy. I can't imagine coping with the uncertainty you are facing. You are being so graceful about it, too. I am inspired by your spirit. Know we are there loving you every step of the way. Thanks for keeping us posted, we are thinking about you all the time.
Ok be specific with those prayers Michelle... So I learned the tiny poops are called poodles. You want a nice collection of poodles in your future my dear. Cancer never comes at a convenient time don't cha know! So you get to plan for aspirations of continued health in what ever shape this may be for you both. Don't forget that this too will bring unplanned gifts of joys. Odd huh. Be open to the joys which will be there. You look great. Xxx Nan🌺🌺🌺🌻🌻🌻🌻🐝🐝🐝🍜🍜🍜🌸
I'd love to plan a fun adventure with you and Bruce when you return to the US!! When you are feeling more up to thinking about it, let me know the theme, biking, kayaking, snorkeling? You know that I love to plan adventures:-) Love and hugs.
Laura, I look forward to an adventure at CINMS with you! Gordon, she got right in the big walk in shower with me. She was riotously funny, id guess you'd need to be after 30 years of showering really sick people.
