My bowels aren't moving but I have

Last night Michelle got to move to a new room - her old room was too hot and the grumpy roommate insisted on keeping the windows closed. The bonus is that the new room is private! So much quieter. Unfortunately Michelle's bowel pain is so severe she still didn't get much sleep. "I'm just sad to have left Mary behind with the toxic roommate. "

Today she met met with the physio and got exercises to ensure that every lobe of her lungs got oxygenated. She also got a detailed explanation of the difference between fast and slow kegel exercises.

"The road to health feels longer than the Appalachian Trail, and I couldn't face every day without all your notes and emails - thank you for all your support!"

We just counted her staples - 50 in all!  We'll spare you the picture.

"My amazing friend Shelly helped me take my first shower, which felt life-affirming. "

Open windows are healthy! Glad you got to move to a nicer environment. That should help you relax (do you hear that, bowels?)

It is good to see you smile after such a big surgery. I loved the photo. Are you up to having visitors? I was thinking about the bank holiday Weekend of the 26 th? The girls made you state of the art paintings for your room, which I mailed today. Eat more prunes and less bananas for an easier bowel movement. Sending you big hugs.xx

Dear Michelle, You look great in your picture! Sorry to learn you are still in discomfort, but thrilled you can at least be in a private room now. You aren't missing anything today with rain, and cold temperature in the 40s, but next week the weather looks glorious! If your physio approves, the corgis are ready to lead you through the streets of Jericho to help keep your lungs oxygenated! The forecast next week is nothing like Santa Barbara, but sunshine and in the mid-50's! Keep your spirits up, and we are so thankful that you have such an excellent medical team taking care of you. As Gloria Gaynor's song goes -- you will survive -- and each new day will be a blessing! All best wishes, Anne Marie
