back in Santa Barbara

Our first 10 days in Santa Barbara were a whirlwind of chores. We bought two new electric cars and tried to figure out how to work them.  We bought new iPhones and tried to figure out how to work those too.  hen we tried to figure out how to get the iPhones to talk to the cars!!  Everything seems complicated and I feel old.  Email me for our new phone #'s.

We celebrated our homecoming with a huge taco party at Laura and Steve's new house (thank for hosting).  It was great to see so many friends, get dozens of hugs and feel supported during this unsettling transition.  We also enjoyed getting reacquainted with our house and despite the drought, we had fun finding fruit in our orchard.

I also met my new oncologist, Dr. Sekhon.  She is fabulous!  We are going to make a great team and together we will beat this monster.  We had the expected chat about my medical history but what she said that has stuck with me most was, "Michelle, try not to worry.  It's my job to worry about you, so when you find yourself worrying send all that to me, that's what I get paid for."  What a compassionate thing to say, and truly what I need most -- peace of mind.  So I am sending my worry to her and it helps.

Now that life is getting settled I look forward to seeing you all for fun outings, BBQ's at our house or skyping if your far away.  Hugs to all, MK

I couldn't be more pleased. It must be a challenge to adjust to the USA from the UK, but I have no doubt that you will sail right through this next chapter. XO - Jim

Great to be back in familiar surrounding I bet! I feel old with some of the technology too -- just too much, why do things change so fast, blah, blah, blah... Your new oncologist sounds wonderful! Smooth settling in and eating lots of fruit from the orchard!

It's great that you've got a doc who is on top of the medicine AND is a human. They aren't that common.
