Super Sleepy

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I have not been on the computer as much or for a long period of time the last few days.

So last Sunday Derek had about 86 ml of fluid removed from his head.  He did not really benefit from removing that much fluid as he did in the past.  Normally removing fluid would perk him up, but even removing way more than normal, he was just as tired.

The new tumors seem to be growing pretty fast.  He has been sleeping quite a bit. He is basically waking up to eat and drink and go to the bathroom. He wakes up at other random times too, but it is hard to predict when he will be awake.

The last week has been busy because we are working with hospice and the pain and palliative care team to get Derek as comfortable as possible. Every day has been busy, we have been meeting with many people who have come over and helped Derek in many ways.  Thanks be to God, because Derek has had no pain.

I want to thank anyone who has done anything to help with Derek.  We appreciate all the support we have received. Please keep praying for a full and complete healing.

I am not delusional, I know Derek is in a tough spot, but as long as there is breath in his lungs and a heart that is beating, there is still hope.  Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

At this point, modern medicine has very little to offer Derek, but all hope is not lost.  There is one who is greater than all, and it is He who has the final say.  Keep praying, it ain't over yet.  Derek is still smiling. And laughs when someone makes him laugh!  The Derek we all know and love is still there.  There is still yet hope!  My feet are fully planted on the ground, but I am not giving up.  Derek is fully aware of his condition and is at peace.  Whatever happens, Derek is ready!

That's all for now folks,

Zell

This was very enlightening and indeed hopeful. We all can continue to pray for Derek and the family. We're sure you and Angela must be terribly busy. It is nice to know how loved Derek is by everyone. God will take care of him. Take care. We love all of you so much. GGRudy and me.

Angela, I continue to pray for Derek and all your family. God is great! You are a beautiful woman with a gracious spirit, I see why Derek is at peace with this hand he was dealt. He has a perfectly awesome Mother & Father. Not to forget little Kate. Your kids are blessed to have you. Love to all Terri

Miracles happen everyday and a positive turning point for Derek is very possible especially, with the amount of prayer being sent his way. So happy to know he is not in any pain as his body struggles to gain strength through his restorative sleep. Continued prayers to the Young family and all the people helping with his care. Keep him smiling and happy during his wake times just as you have and we will all pray for his healing and recovery. Hugs also to you all, Judy

Thank you for the update Angela. We continue to pray for Derek and your whole family. My dad used to bless each of us at night with the following blessing, and it always comforts me when I think about it: May the Peace of God which transcends ALL understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Amen.
