General health = Good

Emma's appointment went as well as we could expect.

No fever, no ear infections, no red throat. Heart and lungs sounded good.

Now we wait for Monday when we meet with a physician who is a specialist in children with special needs.

But... If I hear one more person say "Autistic kids sometimes have funny behaviors", I'm likely to scream. Autism shouldn't be used as an umbrella diagnosis for things that are difficult to figure out. Each child with any kind of developmental diagnosis is unique, and should be treated as such. When a child has a genetic condition on top of brain damage AND an autism diagnosis... well, there's a good chance that your umbrella isn't going to fit.

And with that, I'm off to play with my beautiful, unique children. How fortunate we are to have them to love.
