New Diagnosis
Good Morning friends and family,
It has been eight days since dad was admitted to Desert Regional Medical Center with stomach pain and vomiting. We saw several different doctors while dad was there and we were all hoping to have clear answers from them. But, because they did not have the results of the biopsy, they had to watch what they said due to the seriousness of the situation. I am confident, however, that all of us including dad, understood that this was a late stage colon cancer, which had metastasized into the abdomen and was incurable. We had been anxiously awaiting the official diagnosis which came yesterday; here it is, 'Stage 4 Colorectal Mastatic Adenocarcinomas.' Due to a friend of dad's we were able to take this diagnosis and findings of the original doctors to get a second opinion from a surgeon at a neighbouring hospital, 'Eisenhower Medical Center.' The surgeon was clear about his medical opinion based on the evidence presented, so I will be as clear as he was. Due to the fact that the cancer spread to the wall of the abdomen, making it stage 4, this cancer is terminal. He also expressed very clearly what the other doctors had hinted at, chemo, radiation and surgery will only prolong dad's life a short time and he will be seriously sick and in pain the whole time from chemo.
Dad said this brought much needed clarification, confirming for the most part what he already knew. It seems, at this point, that the prognosis in the world of U.S. medicine, in regards to dad's type and stage of cancer, is overwhelmingly the same. With that being said, we are seeking a third opinion at one of the larger Medical Centers like UCI and UCLA. We are praying that we will get into one of these places by the end of this week.
As doors begin to close on effective treatment in the U.S. we are looking at alternative treatments, that is, any other cancer treatment than chemo, x-ray radiation and evasive surgery. Germany is by far the most advance country in alternative cancer treatment. They combine a strict diet that starves the tumour and builds the body’s immune system to fight back, with the most modern and effective treatments like Hyperthermia, mistletoe and vitamin C injections as well as many more. The crazy thing is, none of the treatments have the negative side effects as Chemo and radiation, but leave the patients feeling better not worse. Our brother in law, Mike Roush's mother travelled to Germany and was treated effectively there. President Reagan, movie stars and many other high profile people from all over the world have left the U.S. and their home countries to be treated in Germany. So as The Lord begins to close doors here in the U.S. we fully expect doors to open in the world of alternative cancer treatment.
As for dad, he looks good. He is walking at the track every morning with mom, eating a seriously regimented cancer diet that has him looking much better physically. Spiritually only dad knows for sure, but we all know dad is who he is because of his faith in God and his relationship with Jesus. His faith is growing and his desire to be used by God and help others is stronger than ever. Dad was talking to me and Cris Ann about how he is being lead to help the poor, tithing and donating money from any insurance money they receive. This may look like foolishness to the world, someone may say 'how can you give when your need!?' But those with the eyes of faith see something beautiful going on, a child of God who is truly and completely placing his trust and hope in his Father who reigns over all.
Continued prayer for divine wisdom in our decision making, Peace for the family, especially mom and doors to be opened for effective treatment.
We all thank you for your support and coming along side to bear this burden.

Thank you, Caleb, for the update....know that we are lifting all of you to the Lord in prayer. You are right...only He knows the outcome and has the perfect plan. Greg and I will continue to pray as you look for options in Germany and if we hear anything from this side of the world, we will surely pass it on! Lord Jesus, please let Your presence pervade and course through the hearts and minds of our dear family with the peace that only, truly comes from You ...Amen.
Caleb...thank you for the update. You are doing wonderfully at synthesizing the information and communicating it effectively. Your family is lucky to have you leading the way on this. Please let me know if I can support your efforts in any way. Continued prayers and blessings to Gary, your mom and the rest of the family.
Thank you for the update Caleb. Will be praying for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding for the whole family. For wisdom and doors to be open as you seek treatment for Gary. Blessings on you all!
Thank you Caleb. God has brought you and CrisAnn back to the US to serve, for sure. We will continue praying for all of you at this time. Sending positive, healthy energy your way. xxx
Thank you Caleb, for clarifying things. I'm so sorry you are all going through this and pray for God's Peace and Guidance each step of the way on this Journey. Speaking from experience I know there are many Blessings along the way that wouldn't come under any other circumstance. Cancer cannot take your life, that is in God's Hands and it is appointed each of us a time to be born and a time to die. My husband and I found out he had cancer on 9-11 while watching the World Trade Centers come down with a phone call from the Dr. It put things in perspective. The first thing my husband said while watching so many lives lost in 9-11'a terror was, "well I'm not dying today, I have time. What a blessing." It was seven more years and although I sure wouldn't have chosen the journey, or my own cancer 3 yrs. ago, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Jesus truly makes all things beautiful! Sending much Love your way and Praying for you all continually.
Beautifully spoken! God bless your family and I will pray for doors to open and God's will be done.
Oh, just catching up and sending out our love and prayers for the whole family...Gary you are in the arms of Jesus, He loves you and will see you through this, whatever HIS will is. Peace be with you.
Thanks so much Caleb for the update. In this as in all human things, Jim and I cling to what is beyond our own understanding.......and we shall acknowledge Him who is able to do so much more than we can imagine. He is ABLE! Prayers for strength and endurance......in Jesus' name, Karen and Jim Adamik. Southwest Church Worship Team

Thank you Caleb for the update. We will be praying here. I know God is going to use this for His glory and that your dad will live out his faith as other treatments are researched. My heart is heavy for all of you. May God give you all the peace you need as you hold on tighter to His hand. BTW, I'm one of your dad's many cousins....Jodi and Ken
Praying for God's peace to surround you all as you research options and decide on course of action. May your next steps be right where God would have you. Much love from Colorado.
Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Prayers abound for you bro!
Martin/Shirley Hubler - We will be praying for wisdom as you gather information in what you need to do. The Lord will be with you in your decisions.
Thank you for sharing the update. We continue to pray for you all.
Kelly Walker Roni was diagnosed with with stage 4 colon cancer and was told she would live no more than 18 months. She lived 5 years following that diagnosis and saw the birth of two grandchildren. We all have a terminal diagnosis and none of us, or our doctors, know when the Lord will take us to our real home. Enjoy every day God has given.
Gary and Caleb...I have a good customer who recently moved here from Germany and both she and her husband are big Cancer Docs at UCLA. I would imagine that they can offer some insight into options in Germany if you need some additional info. Please reach out to me if this sounds at all interesting and I will get in touch and then put you in touch.
We are thinking of your family and praying for Gods divine intervention and for doors to open
