Update For Gary ~ TEAM BARTON~ KNOCK OUT CANCER
It's 12:26 Thursday afternoon and I am sitting in a hotel room typing to you on the computer, Gary is sleeping. We were staying at our son's but our granddaughter is sick and Gary cannot be around someone who is sick so we are staying at a hotel close to the doctor.
That is how that last few months have gone, Gary was diagnosed with cancer, our beloved family dog went to heaven, I made a big mistake at my job due to the stress of Gary's diagnoses, each week something breaks, I mean breaks big, the car, the air conditioner, our little motor home stubby, and our oven! I tell you this because in the mist of what seems like the worlds largest storm, there is peace, there is provision, there is hope and we are grateful ~
Today, in about two hours Gary will be having a procedure that will be removing the fluids that have built up in his stomach. It is our hope and our prayer that this procedure will relieve the pressure in Gary's stomach and some of the pain in his back. We are also hoping that this procedure will allow him to eat and digest.
It has been a hard week and Gary continues to lose precious weight. You can really see his silent determination forcing himself to eat knowing it will cause him pain but knowing it is what he must do. You see this kind of strength throughout his life, in his parenting, coaching and his walk with God, doing what he knows must do to win the battle and having faith to do what is right.
Last Friday we started the Stem Cell procedure, Gary will not feel the effects of this for about two weeks. Common side effects are inflammation so the doctor is watching the tumor on Gary s small bowel closely so that we do not end up with a total blockage. Lastly, we hope to have another PET Scan in abut three weeks to see if Gary's body is responding to the treatments he is receiving.
As I have written so many times, we are not and cannot do this alone, we are grateful for all your texts, posts and financial help.
Blessings, Dawn and TEAM BARTON!
Our current balance for donations given are $2,750.00, we have a $10,000.00 pledge, this leaves us with a need of $13,500.00, to pay for the first ROUND TO KNOCK OUT CANCER!!

Dawn: You ARE in the eye of the storm but you are anchored to the One who has power over the storm. Our prayers continue for your spiritual, physical and material needs. Let us know if this procedure helps. Love you!
Dawn, I do not know you personally, but I have been introduced to Gary, by his sweet sister Shery. Gary was at Kings school one day this last spring, I think it was the first week in June. I know you both have a sweet and gentle spirit. I also know your love for our savior Jesus Christ. I am praying for you both and will send some financial help as soon as I can. I am a volunteer teacher aide at Kings, they call me "grandma Julie"
prayed w/ the music team at church together last weekend, and prayed as a staff at Southwest yesterday for you my friend. We got your back!
Please let Gary know that as LQHS begins their first official pre-tryout volleyball practice at 3:00pm today there will be many many girls thinking of him and wishing he could be there. He was my daughter, Baylie Dashner's, coach last year and we just loved him. We say prayers very often for him and all of you. Please let him know the girls will be working their hardest on the court for him and send prayers and love.
