Maintenance Chemo Round 1 and Return to Work

Hi there, I just wanted to provide a quick update on my new chemo regime.  Three weeks ago I began my maintenance chemo, Xeloda, which entailed taking three pills taken in the morning and three more in the evening.  I'm very happy to share that my experience with this new chemo has been very positive with minimal side effects.  There was little nausea and little fatigue associated with it.  The primary side effect was hand-foot syndrome, which included some minor pain when I stand on my feet, which may get worse over time, but hopefully not.  The side effects are cumulative, which means they grow as I continue to take this, but again, hopefully this won't be the case.

I also return back to work in one week, working part-time for the first couple weeks, then increasing depending on how I feel with this chemo regime.  This will be a nice return to some normalcy, but I'll definitely miss my time at home with the family.

Thanks for taking the time to read, I'll continue to share updates with you as I have been throughout the journey.  I can't believe we're almost at the end of January already, but I hope the new year has been good to you thus far!

Take it easy going back to work and make sure all your doctors know. I think you'll be superman if you can do it. Best of luck. So happy to hear things are moving smoothly.
