Beautiful Days R2 D11 & 12

For Craig: Mike is doing great today after a fun night visiting friends.

For everyone else, assuming you enjoy reading my ramblings, continue on. If not, see above sentence. :)

Yesterday I woke up feeling so much better than how felt when I went to bed. I am starting to think I shouldn't journal (publicly) when I'm so exhausted and emotional. I tend to sound a bit dramatic, I think. The light of a new day is so promising. The girls actually woke up and got ready for school without a fight. This never happens! Mike rode along to drop them off. They love having that time in the car with him. Lucy always wants to know what everyone dreamed about. After we dropped them off, I went to the Y for a little workout and a good chat with a friend. Mike checked Craigslist for the 8 billionth time, then we headed down to Kansas City to get his bloodwork done. Reid rode with us and entertained us by always trying to "sing" louder than Mike was. Mike was a good sport about it and conceded to Reid. I don't know where that kid gets his loud, boisterous personality from. They sent us on our way and told us that no news was good news. We never heard back from them.

In the afternoon, Mike was feeling good! He got in the skid loader and did some work on the ditch in front of the house. I took the kids out to run some errands and visit with some friends. When we got home our friends had brought dinner over and we visited with them for a little while and the kids played.

My mom came to pick the kids up for a sleepover. After they left, it was past Mike's bedtime (8:00) but he was apparently feeling better as the hours went on. He had his coat on and said, "Let's go!" What? This is pajama and popcorn time for me, bud! I was a trooper though, and we headed out to drop the jeep off at a friends house and then he wanted to stop and socialize with "The Guys" for a little bit. It's too bad Craig doesn't want to read my whole journal, and he had to stop reading at the first sentence, because this is where I am going to talk about a bunch of mushy stuff, like how much Mike's friends mean to him, and how great it was to see them last night. I could tell he had been missing having those guy conversations. If you were wondering how long men can talk about a truck that they just bought and are going to fix up, it's about 7 hours. You're welcome for saving you from listening to that conversation. (Just kidding, Todd!)

When we finally got home around 10:30, Mike was wiped out and crashed. This morning we were both up early, feeling good! I told him I was so excited to have a day all to myself, but I was afraid I'd waste it contemplating the hundred things I could go do! So far, Mike's been out on the Ranger with his best buddy, Milo, driving around the fields. I made breakfast and then went outside to play fetch with Milo. That crazy dog is actually tired, for the first time in his life. Hopefully this nice weather will take some of the energy out of him.

I better go get the kitchen cleaned up and then decide on what I'm going to do. This day feels so refreshing already. Mike's out in the back hoe now, and I think I could get used to things feeling "normal" again. It won't be too long and all of this will be a memory.

XOXO

Robin
