Biopsy No. 4 |6-13-16|
On Friday we travelled down to KU Med to get another CT and meet with cardio-thoracic surgeon, Dr. Veeramachaneni (Dr. Vee). He had talked to Dr. Sirridge and they discussed doing another, slightly more invasive surgery to biopsy the cancer in his chest. To do this, Dr. Vee is going to make an incision on Mike's right side and put a scope through there to see where he wants to take tissue from.
We really liked him, as well as his nurses. He sat down with us and went through Mike's chest CT, explaining everything. They scheduled it for this morning, so here we are.
Mike is second on the schedule, so they had him check in at 8:30, and now we are sitting in pre op. He said he's more nervous about getting a catheter than anything else. That makes me laugh- he's been through so much, and he's just concerned about a catheter!
He will have to spend the night down here tonight, since he will have to have a chest tube drain in, after surgery. The goal is to go home tomorrow, but they just told us it could be Wednesday.
We could really use some uplifting thoughts at this time. Their hope is to find a different diagnosis so that they can figure out a different treatment. We are putting a lot of trust in the team of doctors that they will find a treatment that will kill the cancer and get him feeling better soon.
We are so grateful to everyone whom has and is praying for us, for keeping Mike in your thoughts, for sending positive vibes our way, for loving us.
A special thank you to every person who has, and is helping with Molly, Lucy, and Reid. Our hearts are filled with gratitude. They are Mike's whole reason for wanting to get well. Thank you for taking care of our babies and loving them when we can't be there.
Xoxo

Sending lots and lots of good vibes your way!
Robin & Mike, A few jokes for you today ....... Husband: “Oh the weather is lovely today. Shall we go out for a quick jog?“ Wife: “Hahaha, I love the way you pronounce ‘Shall we go out and have a cake?" Why does it suck to be a penguin? Because even when you get angry, you still look cute. My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad, finally I had to take his bike away. I didn't say they were good jokes, did I? Prayers are being sent up today for both of you, your doctors and nurses and anyone who has the pleasure of coming your way. We love you and your family so very much. God's got this! Marvin & Rose

Robin-sending prayers your way. Prayers for Mike and prayers for you for all that you do-to keep you strong. You are amazing!😊
In my prayers daily.
Thinking of you all, Robin, and praying for answers and healing. You are both stronger than you even know. When Glendon was going through his cancer treatment I always loved the bible verse, "Be still, for I am God." It helped me remember that he was in charge and I had to trust in his plan. I'm praying for you guys!
We are sending up prayers for both you and Mike.
Tell Mike I would be worried about the catheter as well. :) Praying for you all.
Prayers and positive thoughts from the Durkins.
Praying hard! Lots of hugs and kisses to all of you. Rose Bernasek, the dog joke had me literally laughing out loud. I love a good bad joke. I hope it made Mike and Robin laughing too!
Many prayers to Mike! May God help these doctors find an accurate diagnosis/treatment so he can begin to heal!
Love hugs and prayers for you all!!!
Our thoughts and prayers are lifted with those of your other friends and family. We know they will work because we all believe. You are such fine examples for us to follow.

Prayers for Mike and all his family, they all are a great team. I had 4 back surgery's and had a chance to be paralyzed for every one they did but I had a golf ball tumor wrapped up in my spinal cord and yes I have my bad days but I am alive and haven't had surgery since 2008 thank you lord..... So it will be a journey but Mike is very strong and loving and he will kick cancers ass just like I did. Stay strong Mike and I have been praying and praying that God puts his healing hands on you. God Bless you all and continued prayers until Mike is home healthy and ready to enjoy the rest of his life with family and friends.

Hi guys, sending much love and many prayers! I don't have any jokes, but a true story to make you smile....a conversation between Ella and I, one we have almost every day, but this day she asked a question at the end: Ella: Mom, I like you. Me: i like you too Ella! Ella: Mom, I love you. Me: I love you too Ella! (this is where the conversation usually ends, but on this day....) Ella: Mom, I like you and I love you. Me: You too Ella! Ella: Mom? What does like and love mean?
