NO TUBE FOR NOW :)

Long time no update from me. I apologize but between work and feeling pretty shitty the past few weeks I just haven’t felt like writing. I cannot explain how much everyone’s posts mean to me and I hope they keep coming. I am going to break this post into two parts so I can better explain things.[...]

LAST CHEMOTHERAPY

Yesterday was my last Chemotherapy session and I only have two Radiation therapies left.

I get a repeat PET scan on 06/04/2013 and see the doctors on 06/05/2013.  During that doctors appointment they will hopefully tell me the cancer has not spread and schedule a surgery date which could be as soon as a week after the appointments.[...]

WEEK 5 OVER

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. After a rough start to the week (unable to eat/drink and a lot of pain) my weekend is going pretty good. This was the fifth week of chemotherapy and radiation. The problem now is not as much physically swallowing as it is the burn/pain from the esophagitis and/or radiation. The doctors have pretty much told me that that the pain is going to be there for a while so we are finding ways to blunt it so I can eat/drink.[...]

GOOD DAY

Seems like we may be on track with new strategies of eating, and medicines are starting to work.  My food and liquid consumption is getting better and I think (knock on wood) my esophagitis must be getting better... so they can keep the "J" tube in the box for another few months.  It is snowing in Denver today, I am getting some computer work done and visiting with Mom. LaterO :)[...]

START WEEK 3

Last weekend Tom and I went back to Aspen. I had big ski and social plans but unfortunately they had to be cancelled. On Saturday I had some body aches, probably from the chemo so did not ski. Then by Saturday evening I realized I had a pretty good esophagitis going so I went to see Dr. Schultz on Sunday who gave me some new meds and hydrated me with IV fluids. Tom and I returned to Denver on Monday and are now onto week 3 of chemotherapy and radiation. My biggest focus now is resolving the esophagitis so I can eat or drink, otherwise they are threatening me with a "J" tube which will put a cramp on my life style. Anyways, in a few minutes we are headed for chemotherapy and getting Benadryl so I am about 2 hours from being on a coma again...LOL[...]

Chill Weekend

Having a chill weekend.  We saw Melanie, Gabe and Steve twice this weekend.  They were in town for a conference.  Also, my sister, Lisa is here; it is great seeing her.  Today is Sunday and I have pretty much done nothing all day, which is perfect.  Tomorrow starts a new week of fun and treatment. haha  :)[...]

Been a Busy Few Days....

It's been a busy few days but we have made it to Denver and all is good.

Yesterday we drove from Aspen to Denver.  The drive normally takes about 2.5 hours but took 14 hours yesterday.  Yes I said 14.  First they closed I-70 in Glenwood Canyon where we sat for two hours.  After we got on our way, they closed Vail pass so after waiting again we back tracked to Minturn and took Tennessee and Fremont Pass and got back on at Cooper Mountain.  We left Tom's car in Vail and will get it in a few days.  Tom drove from Vail to Denver.  It was gnarly and he Rocked.[...]

First Treatment Done

Just got done with the first Radiation treatment. They did a final test to make sure they had everything aligned properly and then did the treatment.  My weight is the same which is good news and my labs all look good.  We were reviewing the ones related to nutrition. One more Radiation treatment tomorrow then back to Aspen for the weekend.[...]

Treatment Times Scheduled

Things are moving along.  I just got off the phone with UCH and I start my Radiation on 11/04 and start Chemotherapy on 16/04.  Chemo will be on Tuesdays from about 7:30am until 3:30pm, what fun, not. I think Radiation schedule will vary a little but they said it would be later in the day on Mondays so I don't have to drive to Denver through Sunday traffic.[...]
