Help with finding a place to stay
Hi all.
I'm in test results waiting mode for the final transplant go/no go next week. But, I have to plan as though I'm leaving in 2 1/2 weeks for 3-4 months. Many things have fallen into place (caregiver, house sitter). However, finding a furnished place to stay after I leave the hospital is taking some time - especially at a reasonable price in Silicon Valley. So, I'm reaching out to this network in case anyone knows of anything.
Here are the requirements. It could be an apt, condo, house, cottage or guest house. Need it from approximately the beginning of March for 2-3 months, depending on my recovery.
- 2 beds for me and caregiver (2 bedrooms or 1 bedroom with rollaway or pull out couch in living room)
- 1-2 baths
- living area
- full kitchen (can share with others)
- easily isolated from other occupants
- no pets
- furnished
- easy driving distance from Stanford hospital (less than 30 minutes, no bridges). We will be going to Stanford 2-3 times per week for appointments
- ideally with TV, WiFi to help pass the time
- Would really like to keep this at or below $5000 per month if at all possible. $3-4K would be ideal (more than my first mortgage...)
Thank you!
Joanne

Joanne, Is it time to reach out to a Frito friend? Scott Barnum live in atherton and they might know of a place for short term rental? xoxo, Julie
Such a great idea. Would you mind passing this along?
Will do!
Praying that you find something soon that fits with your budget and needs. Love, Debbie
Joanne--I'm so pleased to learn that the transplants are going well. I really regret that my parents sold the old Bruce Ave. house so long ago because it would have been perfect for you. I have a list of Class of '72 people (I think it originated with Mark Dias or Eric Childs, but I don't know if there is an update; it's several years old). I filtered out all but Palo Alto-adjacent people (LG, SJ, PA, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale). I'm sending it to your gmail account, unless you have a newer e-mail. If you need me to contact anyone, let me know. I know you want to keep this relatively under wraps, but I suspect you might easily and quickly find volunteers for a place to stay if you posted a Friends-only, Friends Except, or Specific Friends message on Facebook (in that order of reach). We're on Team Joanne here, we all love you, and I'll bet that just the right place is out there if we expand the circle. I won't contact anyone without your go-ahead, but if you want to split this list among several of us here on PostHope, I and, I'm sure, others would love to help. Love and best wishes, Victor
Thank you Victor. Your suggestion is so reasonable. I’ve been trying to keep this contained but will think on this today. Joanne
Joanne, I sent a note to Scott Barnum 20 minutes ago and he got back to me already. He's checking around and will "revert ASAP." So Scott to say "revert"! Also sent a note to a former law partner of Paul's who works for HP in Palo Alto and a Northwestern friend who lives in Atherton. I'm sorry to say that is the extent of my contacts in the area. Fingers crossed and God's graces some suggestions result. Love you, Julie
Thank you, thank you! 😘
Joanne...I have an opportunity 10-15 mins from Stanford. I’m emailing you the info.
Joanne, I posted this to my women's group at Etz Chayim. I will let you know if I hear of anything. If you find something let us know. -Wendie
