10 Days In
Hi all. Seems impossible that I’ve been in the hospital for 10 days already. Everything so far is going as planned. The transplant yesterday - in this case, a fancy word for an IV blood transfusion - was long (6 hours) but went off without a hitch. Nancy Sheppard and Joanne Sheehy helped me pass the time.
It feels like now should be the start of a new day with all the re-birthday greetings, but in fact it’s the beginning of the harder stuff. Delayed side effects from last weekend’s chemo, other side effects from the new immunosuppressants, diuretics to reduce the fluid weight gain, etc. Just normal stuff around here, but new to any of us who have managed to live this long without a major illness or a hospital stay. However, the staff tells me that I’m doing much better than normal so gratitude to my healers working every day and my otherwise strong body.
Also, many thanks to the friends who are visiting and keeping me company.

Joanne, Such wonderful news to hear that you are doing better than normal....but we always knew you were not normal or average, but exceptional. I look forward to my next visit with you. And I'm happy to just sit there if you want company but don't want to talk.
