5-13

Yesterday, today, & tomorrow

Yesterday was a pretty good day as they wheeled the vent machine out of the room to a nod of good riddance by our patient. Walker a bit begrudgingly, walked twice around the floor. Keeping his stats in good shape all the while.

We heard a moving sermon by Dr. Swanson at FPCO (go to fpco.org to hear it) that centered on God’s miracle making nature and referenced Walker’s illness and his family’s situation prominently. Our FPCO Church family has been instrumental in supporting Walker and his family through this extreme need. We thank you!

Today, we had a little spiritual blowback, which satan often uses after a banner day for God and his people, in a feeble attempt to frustrate and distract us from our true victory. I get a call about 11am from Candy that Walker is not cooperating with anything or anyone essentially telling everyone no, no, no I won't do it. She is worried that the staff will not want to work with him if he keeps it up.

As a well seasoned believer :-), I know the drill and immediately put out a text at 11:15 to his core family prayer warriors to pray against his spirit of discontent and for him to be blanketed by Christ’s peace, love, and cooperation. All I know, ALL I KNOW, is that God hears your prayers and intervenes.

Dad shows up at 1pm expecting a difficult situation and walks in to find Walker sitting in a chair talking that he walked and worked his arms and legs! He seems at peace. It's all I know. You do the math.

Tomorrow, his fight to regain himself continues. Our current prayer request is for Walkers mind and spirit. As the head nurse told me today, ”if he put his mind to it he could be off this floor soon, if he continually fights it and is uncooperative it will just take longer.” Please pray specifically for the spirit of peace, of supernatural strength, and of joyful cooperation to blanket Walker in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen and Amen. Thank you.

This is a marathon, so thank you for hanging in there with us as much as you can as your prayers and support are very important!

Continuing to pray. :-) Please pass along to Candy that, speaking as a PT who has worked in acute care with some pretty tough cookies, the staff expect some push back and are unlikely to stop wanting to work with your sweet boy just because he is not being cooperative in that moment. It is to be expected and I am sure they must know that and be ready for that challenge. I’ll be praying for perseverance for all involved. love watching God move in all of this!!
