After 2 solid days with no ECMO support, tomorrow is the big day! He is scheduled to have the surgery to remove the ECMO lines sometime tomorrow. This is big!! We are very blessed indeed. Ours is not to ask why through the valley but to seek enough nourishment to continue to the journey through the day to witness what comes next.
And Next would be the removal of Walkers gall bladder but as Dean, one of our favorite ECMO specialist, says “it like a paper cut in the office of life”. No big deal! See ya later, adios, au revoir, arrivederchi.
While we are elated to move into this new phase of recovery expectantly thankful, I am reminded just now of the other side of this journey as the family next door of a young child has lost their loved one. May God comfort them in this awful time of loss.
This floor is known as a 50/50 place and the loved ones straddle the 50 yard line, usually the best place to sit but not here, praying fervently in hopes that their prayers fall on the living side. Here the delicate balance of life is tasted, breathed, slept on, cried on till your heart either breaks or is healed.
Lord only you know the why behind these life stories we have seen throughout these months and why we have been blessed to land on the bright side of the 50/50 line. Thank you God!! For today and tomorrow. For your healing grace over Walker. We ask for continued prayers that any bacteria that touches his body dies instantly in the name of Jesus and that all his organs return to good working order as God created him. Amen!
