A bump in the road
Yesterday was a hard day and a good day all the same. Getting rid of the ECMO machine was scary for Walker who had come to rely on its support after 63 days of having it there as needed. So he was very anxious and he went from being cold all the time to being hot now. So this made him feel strange. He told the staff he wanted rest and that he would not walk.
A good day turned very tough by night as the staff made him walk at 830pm. He made it 15 ft down the hall and his legs buckled and he sat down. His nurse looked at his oxygen stats and they dropped sharply, so we made a turn to go back and he passed out. His C02 count had gotten dangerously high and then his heart rate dropped. They quickly all jumped into action and had him safely back in bed and ok. It was a scare and more like a large speed bump in the road.
I stayed by his side last night and this am his doctor said “this is a bump in the road and it will not keep him from getting home and moving into living a full normal life.” Of course, he was very scared today and spoke about it with Candy and I. The good news is that we prayed with Walker together and he prayed for himself as well. And we believe this will be the turning point for his mindset to light a fire under him to fight harder to get better. His body is in a good place and ready to recover and now it’s time for Walker to step up and believe!!
We had a firm loving talk with him just the 3 of us and shared with him some of the trials he has already been through and survived, that God has a reason for him to be here now and he has to believe he can do this. He agreed with us, feels safe, and said it’s time for him to fight. And we are here right beside pulling for him and we told him of the thousands of people that have been praying for him. How he has a web site for months now that people read and pray for specific things about his recovery. And how amazing the prayer is as it’s works every time! To God be the Glory!!
Please pray for Walker’s belief in himself and for his strength to overcome his disbelief. Amen! And Amen!

Praying now that Walker will sense God’s nearness and power and love for Him.
Walker, keep on FIGHTING! I believe in you that you will get well soon. You will be able to go home and be with your family. God is in control and with our prayers you have come a long way. He hears us as we pray and gives us hope each day.
Walker, after having watched you on your front lawn from my kitchen window as you learned your cheer tumbling and flips, I’m convinced that there is nothing you can’t do once you put your mind to it. So put your mind to it because our hearts and souls are with you and you can pull on all of our strength and love for you. You have always had a special quality about you; I think God has more in mind for you than any of us knew.
Walker, never lose site of God’s arms reaching out to guide you.....Let God know that you are trusting Him to help you cross the finish line! You are going to walk out of that hospital with God’s glory all over you ❤️❤️
