What a difference a day makes (sung by Diana Washington :-)
Great news!!! Walker left the CVICU today and headed up to 5th floor of the new Ginsberg Tower. It’s so great to get the nod that your well enough to leave the amazing ECMO unit, God Bless all the staff and doctors for pulling Walker through this incredible trial. Onward and upward!!
Of course, it couldn’t have come at a better time as Mom and Dad have officially hit the wall in this marathon. (Carathon more like)
Hitting our wall
"The wall" is defined as that period in a marathon when things transition from being pretty hard to being really, really hard. It is the point where your body and mind are simultaneously tested. It's the perfect intersection of fatigue and diminished mental faculties.
"The wall" feeds off the games your mind plays during the taper period. As you negotiate your race pacing (ICU care) based off of what you plan on running, there are two types of race paces: your "Could Pace" and your "Should Pace.
Running (thru the halls of 3 different hospitals) is not a complicated mental activity, which means your brain can go on cruise control while your quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and heart need more and more resources each mile. In other words, your mind is at it's weakest just when you hit "the wall" and you need it the most. When the wheels start coming off of your race and the pace starts to drop, it's easy to be overcome with a general feeling of helplessness. (Hello! - that about describes it)
A Mission for Your Marathon
Whether or not you believe in a higher power, and we do thank you God!, there's no doubt that overcoming "the wall" sometimes requires more than just fitness, pacing or food. "The wall" is often a result of the conversation your body is having with your mind. You body says, "Mind, you've had me out here for hours, running hard and feeding me strawberry banana gels and green sports drink. I am really, really hurting right now and want to go lay down on the side of the road because things aren't going my way." (Like yesterday)
As this story has gone and continues to go, God answered our prayers today after many days of tears and much groaning from aching hearts ♥️. Moving Walker off the floor was HUGE!! 68 days of CVICU and we’re blessed to be gone. As Candy told one of the staff, “words just can’t express”. And I said, “We owe you guys 5 yrs of Krispy Kreme donuts.”
Our God is an awesome God!! Really?, more like “words just can’t express.” Please pray specifically for supernatural healing of Walkers lungs and to get him off the vent again as soon as possible. We are so thankful for all your prayers, again “words just can’t express.” Dad

I will continue to pray for ALL of you! Especially for mom & dad ❤️ ! Praying for supernatural strength and peace; praying for clear minds and positive mindsets. Remember, you don’t have to do it on your own strength....call out to God and tell Him, “I can’t do this without you. You promised to take over where I am lacking “!!! Hugs to you both❤️

I look so forward to your updates. It is a rare thing for someone to keep us updated on the results of our prayers. All of my FB friends and families are following right along Walker's journey and the miracle of prayer. Such good and wonderful news we are hearing today. Continuing prayers.
Wonderful news, dad; and wonderful words. We join many who continue to pray for Walker, and for all you McKnights in this long run. (Hebrews 12 -- "let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."
Amen, Lord Jesus!!
yahooo!
Hi Candy, it's Adam Goldstein from the Dean's Advisory Board at UCF. Been thinking and praying for you, Walker and your family. Sounds like good progress. Very happy to hear. God Bless!
