Mind over Matter
Walkers body is continuing to improve daily. Yesterday he was able to keep a little food and drink down successfully which is big. Waking up his stomach getting it to function properly is a current goal. His lungs are improving a little each day and that’s the way the lazy lungs go. We are getting close to getting him off the vent which is only used at night to give his lungs rest but they are slowly decreasing the amount of time it’s used. So overall body getting better for sure.
It seems the incident from last Saturday night has instilled a strong fear, and rightfully so, in Walker in regards to walking the halls. His anxiety level shoots way up, sweat pours out, and panic sets in when they try to walk him at present. Our prayer ask for today is specifically to eliminate his anxiety and panic when it comes to walking. As walking is key to his recovery, he would be further along today if he was walking more.
So Dad, see picture above, has decided that he will wear this annoying head band everyday I see him till he can’t take it any longer and gets moving faster. I figure if he sees me enough in that he will eventually run screaming down the hall :-). It’s taken many years to develop this depth of wisdom mind you.
So, last night I ask Walker, how is the awful sore on his tailbone? And he says, “I have given it to God.” Sweet music to a Dads ear I can tell you. This would never have rolled off his lips in prior days. God certainly has all of us right where he wants us on our knees seeking his face. We can take solace in our trials knowing for a fact that God uses all things for good for those that love him and seek him.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!! God bless our awesome military men and woman for all they have done for our country!!! The McKnights

Beautiful Dave - if spite of the pain this journey has given us all -none more so than Walker - such blessings have come also ---God hasn't kept this precious guy alive this long through all the trials and tribulations for no purpose! We are all changed! The fear and panic is real and tough to experience with him - but he will overcome this as well - in Gods time! Faith - Trust and Patience!!!
Praying: May the God of hope fill Walker with all joy and peace as he trusts in Him, so that he may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Love that Walker is learning to give things to God. Praying that this immense trial is creating a steadfast, robust trust in the Lord that will carry Walker all the days of his life. Love the faith you all are readily walking out in front of Walker and us, beautiful reminder. :)
This reminded me of 2 Tim 1:7.... When I was in the depth of my deepest pit. I kept claiming this until my head and my heart were in sync. Walker you can do this. Just KNOW you are not in this alone....May the Holy Spirit supernaturally remove all fear. God's Blessings to the McKnight family.
God reminded me of these verses as I was praying for Walker this morning. “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.” Joshua 1:5-7 NLT Further on in this chapter he says to be strong and courageous two more times. God understands our feelings and knows we need many reminders that He is with us and will get us through. Praying for courage for Walker and the same for David, Candy and Laura.
