We just past 120 days of ICU care and I was thinking today, chalk those days up to experience of life and look ahead cause those days are gone, that’s G O N E, gone!! We have only today and what is to come. We are in the middle of the downslope now with rehab close on the horizon.
The ICU Shuffle
You can usually recognize an ICU regular with our blank humorless stare and a sure giveaway is that slight hitch in their giddy-up where one foot or the other drags slightly behind. It’s the result of the daily push and pull against the hips as we traverse these waxed floors where the numbers and faces may change but the look still stays the same.
The ICU shuffle, it’s called (well I call it), is an awkward rambling gait, 1/2 hurry on up & 1/2 don’t wanna go; Not knowing exactly what you’ll find there instills a potent mix of hope and dread. Kind of like the cowardly Lion and the Tin man in the back of the line following the Wicked Witches sentinels marching in lock step into the Castle gate. O E O, EOOO
Sometimes one of my feet, usually the left, seems to take off on its own in the opposite direction as if it could “getaway”, a feeble attempt at escape mind you, only to be forcibly swung back into shape. We shuffle off to wherever duty calls because a love patiently waits there for us.
i would say Walker has the eye of the tiger at this time knowing he is going to get out of here and soon. Last night the nurse came in and said you look like you got some color. I said is it from going outside today and he says “No it’s cause I’m getting better!”.
Lungs improving slightly each day, kidneys on dialysis, and stomach still not digesting much, some, but not much. We ask for prayers of continued supernatural healing over Walker with improved strength for him and his family.
Thank you kindly
The McKnights

It is so good to be at this place. I see the intercession for the stomach. Good words Dave.
