Hello Dear Friends of Jeannette & Rich.

Sam here.

As ya'll know, my Mom had major surgery in May and it's been a very tough recovery due to the nature of the work done and all the potential for complications. Well, this week has brought those complications. Initially, they thought there was either a tunnel or pocket behind the incision areas but the fluid draining has become much different. The concern was a leak in her intestines.

This morning Mom had surgery to identify the issue. Her wonderful surgeon, Dr. June George, knows there is a leak in her bowel but it's small enough that she couldn't find it. Adding to the difficulty in finding the hole is that the intestines are deflated as Mom hasn't eaten much in the last few days. Think of it as trying to find a hole in a balloon that's not blown up.

Being the warrior that she is, Mom came through surgery fine. They're putting her back on IV feeding/fluids and intentionally she won't eat or drink for the next few days. The plan and hope is the lack of pressure through the bowels will give the hole time to begin to heal itself.

As things progress with Mom’s recovery, we will keep all of you updated.

From the Keida Family, thanks so much for all the love and support.
