July 24 (Tuesday) - 1150am update
Rich--Rich is restless, wanting to call his doctor, to take his tubes out, and to have someone check out his car. He is talking more, trying to figure things out, but is still in a way in la-la-land for my non-medical thoughts. That said, he and I talked about fishing, about getting him to the hospital ("what? You mean Im in the hospital?"). His doctor said he is doing better, one day and a time; the concern remains the head impact and the bruising his frontal lobe took. Time will tell us where that is.
Jeannette is having a rough turn. Not to be an alarmist, still the reports are not encouraging. Her white cell count is very high, some organs appear to be "shutting down" and her heart is not pumping at the level the doctors would like to see. Because she is too ill to go back into the OR, they are bringing the OR to her, in order to go back inside to attempt to seek the source of the infection that seems to have sprung from nowhere, or everywhere. From a layman, it is clear today is a crital day for her, and I have no news positive to give except that she is alive and struggling. I am leaving for Providence and will report later as I learn more. Clearly this is a day for prayer.
