Just keep swimming...

Hi, it's Di again.

The pain that we have been trying to resolve is being very stubborn. We were unable to transition him from IV meds to oral meds and adequately give him good rest at the hospital, so we decided to try the weekend at the hospice in-patient short-term care center. Here they are able to give him a pump with stronger painkillers, and we will use that to try to level out his pain. Hopefully he can go home with the pump and we will have nursing support from hospice.

Korbin has decided that now is the time to be done with chemo and radiation. We feel that we would like to enjoy any time he has left without being sick from treatments. The kids and I, and especially the cat (okay me again...) are really ready to have him home! Please understand that his energy level is quite low and he has a difficult time with visits lately, the emotions have been draining. He loves you all but please don't be offended if he is not up for visits at any given time.

The hospice inpatient center is amazing- it’s beautiful and restful, and calming. The nurses have been helpful and very accommodating too. This is a great place to rest. We're hoping to transition him home Tuesday after we've gotten the home care team put together and on board.

The kids are doing ok, Ellie was very excited that her team won all 3 of their volleyball games this morning, and Erik is spending the weekend catching up on homework and chilling around the house. Thank you to everyone who has helped us out or offered help lately. We continue to feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many people with huge hearts.

Hospice is absolutely wonderful. I think your decision is the right one. Quality vs quantity......I am praying they can get the pain under control so Korby can get home, soon. You know I love you all. Praying for comfort and peace.

Thank you so much Di you and Korb have been in my thoughts constantly. Your plan to go with hospice to get him the rest he needs is such a great idea. If they can get him the pump and get him home with nursing assistance that would be wonderful. Feel so helpless as to what we could do to help out but think the plan to have just your little family there with him when he gets home is the best idea. Totally understand and just want you to know how much we love Korb and you Di and Ellie and Erik. This journey has been long and hard but you have handled it so well. I know that you are all hurting and plan to make him feel your love and keep him comfortable. Love and Prayers Aunt Sue and Uncle Marcus

Korbin and Di, You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly. It has been a long, hard road and fight for you that you have accepted gracefully and dealt with remarkably. You have been an inspiration to me and I hope and pray that your days are now filled with love, laughter, rest, hugs, peace and no pain. You deserve all of it! Hospice staff will take good care of you and your family. Please let them know what you need and use them to help you in this next journey. My hugs and love to all of you. Susan

I wanted to let you know we have been thinking about you a lot. We were happy to hear about your trip to Universal! We are planning to go there in mid-March and can't wait. (Harry Potter is huge in our house) So glad you were able to enjoy that time. I really hope they get the meds figured out soon so Korbin can get some relief and get home to be with you all. I wish for the best possible outcomes in this next stage of your fight. We will be praying for you all. Take Care, Erica

Korbin and family, it is wonderful to read about your family activities. (and I loved thinking about you in Florida in all that warmth.) I hope this next stretch of family time is as full of love as the rest of your lives has been. Thank you so much for sharing the journey. My mom (your great aunt Jean) and I are praying for you all. Love, Nancy
