Wow!  What a Birthday weekend Meghan had!  We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends in our lives.  It all started on her Birthday with a surprise party at school by the entire 7th grade.  Then that night was Quarter Mania at Lisbon Fire Company in honor of Meghan.  Saturday morning was a celebration with Meghan's Cancer to 5K family and a bonfire party with her girlfriends that evening.  Then Monday her teacher brought Starbucks and Pizza to celebrate both their birthdays and the last day of school.  Then that evening we went to her new favorite restaurant in Wesminster, Texas Roadhouse for dinner.[...]

So Meghan had her scans last Friday.  The results were that there was no change from the scans right before radiation and the most current ones.  The mass has not grown, and from date of diagnosis has shrunk significantly.  But there is some activity in the area that the doctors are not sure if it is inflamation from the radiation or the mass itself.  So at this point they will keep a close eye on her and she will still have to go for monthly check ups rther than every three months like we had hoped.  Overall the doctors are please with how well Meghan is doing.  Unless Meghan develops any problem, the next scan will be in three months.  Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. [...]

It has been a while since we posted any updates.  Since Meghan's last radiation treatment she has been doing really well.  Everyday I see her getting stronger and more energetic.  Last week she went line dancing for the first time since November. [...]

3/26 update

Meghan is done with the Chemo treatments and the recent PET scan has the doctors confident she will not require any more Chemo. In their words "the tumor from when Meghan started to the end has shrunk considerably." "90%" "We see now reason to continue any more Chemo treatments".[...]

It's hard to believe that the time went so fast, but this Saturday is the Fun Run.  Meghan went shopping this past weekend and got new sneakers and clothes just for the event.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone there. [...]

Can't believe it has now been two weeks since Chemo finished.  Though Meghan is still feeling the effects, she is getting a little better each day.  Tomorrow she is scheduled to have a PET Scan done and then Friday she goes in for the Radiation Planning session.  At the planning session they will do additional scans, figure out how and exactly where they will administer the radiation, etc.  Next Friday they will do a dry run to ensure everything is lined up right properly before starting radiation.[...]

It has now been 1 week since Meghan had her last chemo treatment.  Though Chemo is done she is still feeling the effects.  It has been a rough couple of days for her, but hopefully by the end of the week she will be feeling much better.  Despite the pain she is feeling she still managed to get though her home schooling yesterday.  Her teacher even said that Meghan never complains and is so determined to succeed with her school work no matter how bad she feels and never gives up.[...]

Meghan is settled into her room at UMMC and as of 5 pm was still waiting for her chemo treatments to begin.  Before they can start they have to ensure she is hydrated to an acceptable level first. This is done by giving her lots of fluids through her IV.  Her Dad is with her today and I will be heading to the hospital tomorrow to trade shifts with him.  Hopefully she will have an easy night.[...]
