Jan 1-2013 (New Year's Day) - 3pm

With the new year comes new hope and things are off to an awesome start!  The crisis of the last few days is behind us, and Jeannette is once again doing well, eating real food and in quantity too, and feeling better with each day and really and truly looking great.   To me, it's just another modern miracle to go with the Christmas season!    Jeannette returned home and enjoyed New Year's eve in Willow, and the big news is after her detour to the hospital she is now hungry again, eating a steak dinner last night and sleeping a reported 8 straight hours!   She is able to get out of her chair, actually do a little standing up exercises, and walking carefully and with help, all big steps in the scheme of things.   Even better, Rich and Jeannette now have a better idea of how things should be going, what blood tests need to be checked and how often, and her new regime of medicines seemed to be much better matched to what she needs.

Again, now that they are both home, these updates will go into standby mode once again, as there seems to be little need to report the day to day that defines their lives and ours.   I suppose there are social mediums for that, such as Facebook and Twitter, but this site is clearly not one of those.   The news as the new year begins is all good--all things are going well and the healing that must happen is happening.   Still, it's clearly going to be long journey, with perhaps a few more ups and downs, but the hope is that this real progress that is clearly being made will continue, so she can get better every single day.   Rich once said that he heard a statistic that it takes 3 days at home to fully recover for every single day spent in the hospital.   If that is true, we have a ways to go yet, and for certain there are things still to be done.   But we are a very long way from where things were last July.  A very long way.   And so my friends, with this good news, I will end this update with a wish for  everyone to have a really wonderful a very Happy New Year. -- John
