Sept 11 (Tuesday) - 1145pm
I have just come back into town, and returned from a visit with Jeannette. I also picked up Kevin Knutson, who has come up to visit the Keidas, and so that was a special treat for everyone. Speaking of special things, today was a special day in my way of thinking, because today they removed Jeannette's "feeding tube," and as I have said before, with every single tube that is removed we can mark it as a very real and measurable point of progress. I also noticed that there were no IV lines going into her ams, and so she is in many ways "unplugged" when you look at her. And she looked great!
Jeannette was in great spirits too, and tonight she is clearly doing oh-so-well! She was drinking orange juice while I was there, and together with Joyce and Sully we all laughed over old chicken fleet memories, and reflected on how this accident has brought so many of us back together.
While I was there Rich did another "Face Time" visit, and he was in good spirits and had seen a couple of doctors today. The news for him was all good, as it was also for Jeannette. Another good thing to report is that her white cell count is still going down, and she wasn't needing any pain meds and was thinking of the future. She did mention the doctor told her that they are considering doing her leg surgery "in a week or so" and that seems to me be one of the last major hurdles she is facing in order to get out of there. Tomorrow their were no huge plans in the works, except that in the morning she will be heading for a trip down the hall to the hospital "gym" for some more exercises, and Rich is heading to Wasilla for some therapy of his own.-John
