October 3 (Wednesday) - midnight

A short update--talked with Rich today via FaceTime, and the news he relayed is all "good".    Jeannette is making forward progress to the point they are now talking about her pending surgery on her left leg in the "near term", which from the medical perspective probably means sometime in the next ten days to two weeks.   She did require a blood transfusion, which isn't all that unexpected since so many of her bones were broken and one consequence of that apparently is that her bone marrow isn't producing the new blood cells in the quantity they the doctors wanted.   So, they watch her numbers closely.    

She continues to be in great spirits according to Rich, and her room has been filled with well wishers and visitors recently and that's been good for Jeannette and keeps things interesting.   She is also doing great in therapy, and her strength is returning in a measurable way.    Rich plans to head into town tomorrow for a visit.

Speaking of Rich, he's been "cleared to drive" by his doctors, and so he's thinking about automobiles.    Jeannette's suggestion is to get a tank, and if an Army tank isn't available then perhaps a Hummer.   Rich is more practical, and said he's going to go look at Subaru's in the next few days.   Anybody have a great used car they can make him a deal on?   If so, give him a call!   -- John
