October 13 (Saturday) - 1230pm

As I write this note Sully and I just got off the FaceTime call with both Rich and Jeannette.   Rich was, believe it or not, doing a pedicure.  Yeah...that's right.   It was his first, and perhaps, his last.   Still, he had the pink toe separators in place, and one foot was already done and drying, with "perfect" bright red polish professionally applied.   Or, at least that's the way it looked via webcam.

Health-wise, Jeannette looks great, and had just had a bath and shampoo and "do". Her nurse Jessica had braided her hair, and to me, she looked great.  The X-rays of her neck had come back, and the neurologist has indicated that he wants to keep her  neck brace on until 9 Nov.   He says she is healing much "faster than expected" but not fast enough as far as Jeannette is concerned.   She wants that collar off NOW, of course, but we all understand that the neck has to heal first.

Today her nausea is gone, which is a HUGE deal for her, and it's much easier to eat when you don't feel like you are going to lose it.  Renting dinner is not fun.  They are still talking about doing that all important leg surgery the end of next week, or early in the week after, depending on her numbers staying where they want them.   All in all her spirits are good, and Rich was all excited about his new skill as a pedicurist.    - John
