Jeannette was a bit tired last night, "draggy-butt" I think is the quote. That did not stop her from taking 3 walks and going outside to sit in the beautiful sun. She has kept up that amazing positive spirit and was complimenting the wonderful care she has received from the awesome staff. She is looking forward to Dr George's return today because she wants answers!  The first answer she wants is to when she is going home.  She is ready to sit in the sun on the front deck in Willow and direct Rich in his outside chores, or maybe direct him not to work so hard at his outside chores.  As of this posting, Dr George has not yet made her rounds. Another update will follow once we get the doctor's report. As it has been since the beginning of this saga, Rich and Jeannette are grateful for all the prayers and well- wishes of their many friends across the globe. You guys need to keep up the good work! Sunday, May 19th [840pm]

For most of the past two weeks I’ve been out of town, and have not made any “posts” or “updates” to this website. I’ve tried to call and ‘facetime’ and keep in contact, but like the rest of you who sign on and look I’ve been thankful that the posts have been handled by those who have been there. And during this time Jeannette has undergone a major and very critical operation, and a team of doctors has worked very hard to make what we all hope is the last great “final repair” on her intestinal system that was damaged so severely during the accident. More than 10 months has now passed since that terrible day, and together, her family and friends have ridden the roller coaster of ups and downs, hope and despair, and fear and joy. Their survival has been a real miracle in so many ways, and without any question both she and Rich have lived through one medical crisis after another. It is a tremendous understatement to say that it has been a very long, very slow, and a very difficult journey, and yet her incredible faith and unbelievable tenacity for life has brought her to this day.[...]

Jeannette is having a much better recovery day today. Hiccups, nausea, and pain have all been effectively managed by her team of doctors, and she seems to be doing well. The medical team that has been treating her have been so methodical and caring, and that has been impressive to behold. We are still waiting for her surgeon to come by and make a determination on the nasal tube, diet, etc. but she is leaving for her Dad's 100th birthday party late tonight, so it may be another surgeon on her team. Overall, a much better day, and hopefully they will continue.[...]

Hi Everyone.

Here’s your "Surgery + 2 Days" update. Overall, there is good progress. Mom’s temperature is holding and the doctors have no major causes for concern. Her gut is making the “right sounds”. She is not yet taking food orally but is, instead, receiving nutrition via her IV “feedbag”. She takes at least three walks a day down the hospital hall with her entourage … nurse, walker, IV tree, tree-pusher and admirers![...]

6 May 2013 Monday

Evidently, the Post Hope site was down for a bit. Hopefully, it is up and running as Jeannette is counting the days until the iliostomy take down. She will infuse at Providence on Wed and top off magnesium and hydration in Thurs. Still on track for Friday's reversal.

3 MAY 2013 Friday

Jeannette has scolded me on an error in the previous post. It was supposed to be 26 April. I blame auto correct. Now to the good news. Everything so far is on track for the 10 May surgery. Jeannette's magnesium has been trending up. It was 1.3 on Monday and 1.5 on both Wed and Fri. These are all-time highs. Jeannette is VERY ready not to be a bag lady. Keep the Keidas in your prayers. Jeannette goes in to Providence on the 8th to start the "take-down" process.
