FOLFIRI Day #4 - a.k.a. The Puke Was Strong With This One

I'm slowly starting to get past the nausea caused by Monday's treatment.  When we went to have my chemo pump disconnected yesterday afternoon, my nurse took one look at my zombie-like face and decided to give me a bag of fluids and some more anti-nausea meds via IV.  So far, no puking since...Just fatigue and a continual "blah" feeling in my stomach.  I was able to eat a hard boiled egg for breakfast this morning and so far it hasn't come back to visit. :)

The first round of a new treatment plan is always challenging...You read and hear about a long list of side effects but never know which ones are actually going to hit you. It looks like I'll be continuing my reputation as a chemo puker.  Now that we can use this week as a snapshot of what to expect for me, we should be able to better manage the nausea next time.

Radiation on my tailbone has continued to go well.  I still have pain there but it is slightly less than before.  Right now, we are talking about another 7 daily radiation treatments to finish that off.  Erik was able to come to treatment with us yesterday and the nurses let him stay in the room while they performed my setup.  He was able to see the linear accelerator and how it moved around my body to direct the radiation fields.  Pretty cool experience to help him understand what happens and I'm planning on giving Ellie a chance to do the same when she's back from Washington.

Thanks for checking in!

Thanks for sharing the details. They are really very helpful and interesting. By the way, yoghurt is great for the nauseous ones among us: it tastes the same coming up as it did going down.
