Post-Surgery & Recovery

Hey guys, our dad just sent us this update:

Mona’s (Mrs.Mona’s) surgery was a success to the process. The surgery was not designed to be “fix all” surgery, but begin the healing process for her body. Doctor Conway was able to go in and discover that the Pudendal Nerve was entrapped in the sacrospinous ligament in this region. The nerve normally passes “between” two ligaments, however, in this instance the nerve was “passing through” the ligament.

When this entrapment occurred is not absolute, however, the possibilities are very high that it was present since childbirth and only became an irritating issue in recent years. Dr. Conway was able to liberate the nerve that passed through the ligament and bring relief.

The recovery period will take some time and time will only tell of the success of the surgery.  Mona’s neurological system will be in the process of relearning to identify signals and distinguish between the corridor of normal sensing activity and pain.

Please continue to pray for her for an effective recovery (not speedy) and that her neurobiological system will synchronize and began to function properly. Her recovery period is not indefinite but is undetermined because it was not an ordinary surgery and there are multiple dynamics and variables that disallows a definitive time frame. An idea of time for recovery can be from now to four years. Thank you for your prayers and concern.

Post-surgery, she will began treatment which will prayerfully redirect the misfiring nerves which in essence causes their confusion.

We (Morgan and Jamie) were able to spend a few hours with our parents last night when we landed and left this morning. We showed her the site and the comments, the emails we've gotten, texts, etc. and she was so grateful for the outpour of love and support. Thank you all!

Please know that our parents may not be able to respond to all calls and messages at this time but they are so thankful for you all.

To know the physiological condition that was the source of her intractable pain is a large battle defeated. I know and love Mona Harper. She will continue to fight until the war is won. May the Lord our God and Healer of all continue to be with you all.
