Just a brief update today :-)

Last week was definitely a tough week all around. I'll spare all the details, but we pushed through and are all staying strong. [...]

Just providing a status update with our new treatment plan and such..

We are in full swing of our new "aggressive" chemo plan. Today will mark day 3 of 5 of chemo (instead of the once/week previous regimen). This week has been pretty rough as expected, and Cole has felt  terrible.[...]

So we have a treatment plan now. I will start by saying that we are NOT giving up on anything and we BELIEVE this can be cured and Cole will be healed.. To be honest, tears were rolling down my face as I started to type this, but then I got angry and the FIGHT in me prevailed and I started to type. We won't be defeated.[...]

I won't make you wait this time..😊 so I'll start with we still do not have a diagnoses, but do expect some changes with treatment this week regardless.[...]

This weekend and today were a WIN for us where mental health/raising spirits are concerned!  For those of you that know Cole (or for those that don't) he is a football fanatic..well, sports fanatic I should say, but football is his passion. [...]

It's hard to ever say a day is "good or great" without the asterisk of "*all things considered" but I think people know that's understood.

I haven't posted an update in a while which I know may concern people so I thought I would post one today since we have such amazing support from people that want to know how Cole is doing. In general, there's just always something going on so it's hard to summarize sometimes or I'd end up writing a novel. :-)[...]

We've received such amazing support throughtout all of this, and tried to do a good job taking care of ourselves along the way too.  A definite boost to my own mental health came from my other "sons" and work friends visiting the hospital and taking me to lunch! ❤️[...]

Been a couple days so thought I would just provide an update going into the weekend..

We saw our doctor on Wednesday who confirmed that the PET & CT scans showed that the disease hasn't spread outside the lungs yet, but there were the few new spots on the left lung and unfortunately, the tumor in the right is bigger again since surgery last week. In just a week's time again, things grew and spread.  So frustrating..  She said the right lung is pretty much gone which was extremely upsetting to hear since we were hoping the upper lobe was salvageable.  Additionally, this tumor isn't such that they could go in and just pluck it out anyway because it's "stuck" to things in a sticky way, like stuck to the ribs and such. So trying to remove more than they did would mean possibly removing good tissue with it since it's so glued everywhere. Of course, we don't want to remove any good tissue so that was still the safest plan.  Pathology sent out for the second opinions last Friday so perhaps we may hear something this coming week. Since pathology doesn't work on the weekends we anticipate it will be an entire week since they typically take 1-2 weeks or more to come back.  There just HAS to be someone that can identify this rare cancer so that we can tackle it head on.  We believe this.[...]

We had our CT and PET scans on Monday which we were really nervous about since they were looking to see if there was any disease in any other parts of the body. Fortunately, they did NOT see any tumors anywhere else - head/brain, arms, or anywhere in the tummy (liver, etc.). Hallelujah!  However, there were a few new spots in the left lung where last week there was only one spot there. So it is still growing/spreading pretty quickly through the lungs unfortunately. We pray it doesn't travel anywhere else.[...]
