Wanted to provide a brief preliminary update on our scans today. The scans went well and of course we've just been waiting patiently, on pins and needles, to hear something. The only PEt scan we've had was in July and his last CT scan was in August. [...]
Wanted to provide a brief update with where we're at, the week has gone by quickly!
Cole surprised everyone (not us of course!) and rallied this past weekend, getting his counts where they needed to be and fevers gone so he was able to go home Sunday evening! Still combatting the nausea and sores throughout his entire body as previously shared, but stable and well enough to go home. And being home always makes things better![...]
Figured we were due for an update since it's been a while and I want to share where we are with things.
Cole checked in Friday, Sept. 9th for his two-day chemo treatment and fortunately all went well and he was able to go home Sunday and watch football. Football Sunday's are still his favorite. :-) [...]
So last weekend was the KU Football #TeamCole game which we were all really excited for. Unfortunately, Cole was not able to attend the game as hoped, but he was able to listen to the game at the hospital as the Jayhawks went on to victory in honor of Cole. So wonderful and exciting![...]
Our nights at home went pretty well this week..we did our medicine around the clock and battled through nausea & vomiting. All things considered, the days weren't too bad.[...]
Words can't express how grateful and appreciative we are for all of the support we've received. And I was so honored, and almost speechless (yes, we know that never happens), when I learned that my KU Football family decided to dedicate our first game to Cole.[...]

Our procedures Tuesday went well - successfully removed the PICC line from the arm and got our new port in the chest. We've had some ups and downs with how we've been feeling with soreness, pain, and such, but all in all things have been pretty "good."[...]
We were scheduled for a CT scan today which we didn't anticipate having for another week or two, but with the goal of working toward discharge our doctor ordered it for today. She said she would come see us Friday with the results...but of course, in the same fashion she's operated in so far, she went straight down to see the results herself and talk to the radiologist today. She knew we'd be waiting on pins and needles so she came with the results for us today.[...]
Everything is going "well" right now. đ
This past week has been recovery time - our immune system was crushed so we've been working on that as well as combatting the throat sores and the nausea/vomiting.
While everything is relative of course, the past two days have been "good" days for Cole. He hasn't gotten sick, the throat sores are feeling better finally, we've been taking the variety of medications for various reasons, working on the immune system, feeds, and other things too much to break down.[...]
