Levi continued to have fevers through the night and morning so he needed more iv antibiotics today. They let him come home for the night though and it was just what both Levi and Beth needed to get some rest...it has been a couple of long days/nights.
He will need to go back tomorrow again but he seems to be turning the corner and feeling better right now. Fingers crossed tomorrow is the last day to go back for awhile![...]
After getting all of his tests, we found out that Levi’s shunt is working well (Yea!) but his port where he gets medicine is not (Boo!). They are working on a plan to figure out what to do next with that.[...]
Tomorrow, Levi has a pretty full day at the hospital and could use some extra support. First, he has to get a quick MRI. He hates it, which is completely understandable! He has to be be awake, strapped down, and put in a strange tunnel with loud noises. No one would like that. Luckily, it is only for 30 seconds. The MRI plus a few more tests, including injecting a radioactive dye in his shunt and watching where it goes, are to see if his shunt is still working properly. The neurosurgeons want to check since he has become a little more shaky. He was also having trouble with his port (which is a tube in his chest where needles are placed to give meds and get blood) so we are flushing that to make sure it is still working properly. Not a fun day for the little man. Any prayers, thoughts or support would be appreciated. [...]
Levi is getting the hang of his wheelchair, and fast! It's pretty amazing that he's strong enough to push the chair and his body weight around, especially with everything he's been through from the chemo to the months in bed zapping his strength.[...]
The boys continue to enjoy each other and the whole family being at home together. It's a bit of an adjustment as Levi got into a routine of "we go to the hospital now" but is transitioning well not traveling to Mayo.[...]
Wow, there is so much to celebrate this weekend in addition to the end of Levi’s radiation.
Beth and Zack celebrated their ten year anniversary yesterday! And, for the first time in over a year they got to go out to dinner together! Congratulations![...]
It's Levi's last day of treatment at the Mayo Clinic! The staff is celebrating too, with fun streamers and he gets to pick out a toy from the toy chest. He still has a long journey ahead, and many next steps, but for today we will celebrate this milestone.[...]
