Sending a huge THANK YOU to everyone that ran, walked, skipped and donated to the RACE WITH GRACE. The event was so much fun with 46 teams on the track completing a marathon 104 laps each showing their love for Gracie! It was absolutely amazing. Greetings from Craig,
I have a story to share about Columbine High School. Most people are aware of the tragedy that took place at that school around 15 years ago. That horrific event gave rise to a leadership class where each year, students choose a topic and make it their cause. This year, one group in the class picked "living in a wheel chair." Part of their project included outreach to Craig Hospital, and the group visited me in my room to learn my story. They also wanted to help, and they flew my longtime friend, Colette Brown, out to Craig for a visit. It was great seeing her and catching up, and I am very thankful to the students of Columbine being a part of my story. Below is a picture of Colette and the Columbine students with me:[...]
Hello all,
There is a great event coming up in just three weeks that I am hopeful many of you can get behind... The Race with Grace! The Race With Grace event is designed to cheer her on as she faces incredible challenges every day and make sure she knows she is not alone. We also hope to raise funds to help with some of her family’s expenses, including an accessible van.[...]

Since my last post I have some good news. The phrenic nerve pacer (a diaphragm stimulator... think of it as a pacemaker for breathing) will probably not be needed. I am now able to generate some of my own breath so they have slowly started to wean me off the ventilator. My forced vital capacity (fvc), and negative inspiratory force (nif) are improving on an almost daily basis. When I arrived at Craig both scores were zero.[...]
Thank you for responding to my last post. I read and smiled at each response.
This was an exciting week. For the first time in three months I got some movement in my arms. Check my video: https://youtu.be/azIb68CP2Qs[...]
Just a reminder, Santa Barbara Junior High School is featuring Gracie's favorite movie, Goonies, at 7pm, this Friday, March 27th, in the Marjorie Luke Theatre on the campus of SBJHS. This is a community fundraising event. Please come and enjoy a movie and help raise support for Gracie. Look forward to seeing you there.[...]
My endurance is getting better... I can see and feel the progress I'm making on the FES bike and Erigo tilt table, and I can also feel more upper extremity awareness after starting the Armeo robotic arm. Two of the videos my dad posted are linked below that show me on the Erigo and robotic arm.[...]
