Day +11 |1-29-17|

I got the chance to go home yesterday and spend time with the kids. At first I thought it was a huge mistake because it was like all of the strength Molly had been showing these past few weeks dissipated and she was really emotional. I worried that I made things harder for her. So I asked her and Lucy if they wanted to go spend some time doing something fun and they were really excited. Little did they know, it was more healing and rejuvenating for me to have a little time away with them. [...]

Day +1 A New Beginning |1-19-17|

If there weren't surprises along the way, I would be surprised. We found out Tuesday morning that there were 9 bags of cells to reinfused. Typically, a patient has 2. This was due to the fact that he has had so much chemo and it made the stem cells less concentrated. There were lots of white blood cells also in the bags, which they couldn't separate out. There is a preservative in the cells to be able to freeze them, and only so much of it is safe for a person to receive in a day. So they had to split it up, and he received 5 bags on Tuesday and 4 yesterday. [...]

This past week had went pretty fast, all things considered. Mike tolerated all of the chemo just fine. He is more tired and run down than a week ago, but otherwise feeling ok. We have adjusted to living at Hope Lodge. It sure isn't home, but it's comfortable enough, and there are so many wonderful people here to help us through this. [...]

Wedding Anniversary Number 7. |1-6-17|

Mike and I had some good laughs this morning talking about this date, January 6th, and the 8 January 6ths we've seen together sharing the same last name. Last night he was being ornery and was giving me a hard time about something I can't even remember what it was now, and he yells, "YOU SAID FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. YOU SAID THOSE WORDS!" He's right. I did. And, "In sickness and in health." I think I'm doing an ok job of holding up my end of the deal.[...]
