Progress on new bathroom

Thank you to the volunteers who demo our bathroom. Today begins the construction on the fully accessible bathroom that will have a barrier free shower and roll under countertop and sink. Thank you to all who donated money or came to a fundraiser. We could not afford this much-needed bathroom without your help. Please pray for a speedy remodel, using an alternative bathroom for Mark and I is like performing a horrible ballet dance.[...]

Update from Mark's Facebook page

Some people wanted to know how I am doing. Some of the most simplest things are the hardest to do. I can't hold the phone. I can't type on the computer. I need help eating. I need help getting dressed everyday .hard to post on Facebook. I am basically a prisoner to my wheelchair and my reclining chair. I need help from my family to do just about anything. My life is in God's hands. I put my trust in him and pray for healing every day knowing full well and he could say no. His his will is Love & Mercy itself and somehow I have to trust in that. It is very difficult. How great is thy faithfulness.[...]

Back home from the hospital!

Unfortunately, this accident also means more medical bills and less time to spend getting ready to move next week. [...]

In the hospital after a fall

Last night Dad fell again, this time going into the new house. He briefly lost consciousness and went to the ER. A scan was done that showed a slight brain bleed. He is now at Good Samaritan Hospital where he is being observed for at least 48 hours. He is, of course, joking around with the staff. The initial read on a second scan is no change, and a third will be done later this morning.[...]

Beginning a fundraiser

We've been living in a split-level house, but the stairs have become a challenge for Mark. We purchased a ranch house this week. The new house will need some renovations to be wheelchair-accessible such as modifying a bathroom and improving access in and out. We also have some outstanding medical bills. Since a motorized wheelchair is becoming increasingly helpful, we are hoping to soon purchase a van that is equipped to carry one.[...]

About ALS

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a nervous system disorder mainly affecting neurons that control voluntary muscle movement. The disease is progressive; the patient gradually loses the ability to move, speak, eat, and breathe on their own. However, there is great variability in the order of these symptoms.  [...]
