We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday.  We were thankful we got to spend some time with our families.  Brian has been taking it easy.  We had an appointment yesterday with the Radiologist and the target date to begin radiation and chemotherapy is December 11th.  Please continue your posts and prayers as they really fuel our hope and positive outlook as we continue our journey through this difficult time.[...]

Brian woke up feeling really tired today; however, we have an awesome clinical massage therapist who specializes in cancer and spent 2 hours with us.  She educated us on diet as well as relaxation techniques.  Brian felt 100% better when she was finished.  While we cannot even begin to thank everyone for all the food and treats that have been dropped off, she strongly recommends that we stay away from sugars, starches and dairy products.  [...]

8:00 am

Good morning - all is about the same.  Brian is having a hard time getting comfortable in the hospital bed - he wishes he had his own pillows.  The doctors/nurses are reducing his I.V. fluids by half as they want him to start drinking more.  They are hoping to get him up and moving around much more today.  He did take a shower last night - thank goodness!  Please continue to pray for us.[...]

7:30 am

Another rough night for Brian ... around 2:30 am he became very, very dizzy and started vomiting.  They gave him some meds and applied cold packs and he now seems to be doing better.  The nurse told us that it is not uncommon for that to happen and actually said he is doing awesome.  She followed up by saying ... you did just have brain surgery!  They've noticed that he is walking much steadier and moving quicker as well as they noticed his left hand seems to be doing better at grabbing pills, etc.  He has a little more control.  We're hoping after hearing that from the nurse that he can sleep a little better.  One day at a time and a lot of prayers, please.[...]

11:00 am

Unfortunately, Brian didn't have too good of a night sleep wise but we're hoping as we remove contraptions i.e., I.V.'s, bandage, etc. he'll begin to be more comfortable.  He walked a little bit this morning at 5:00 am and they're happy with the amount of liquids and foods he's consuming.  He really enjoyed the pumpkin bread - thank you!  The occupational and physical therapists will be in stopping in today.[...]

1:00 am

Brian continues to make us laugh.  He was asking everyone how they were doing after his own surgery (typical Brian).  He was up and walking to the bathroom at 11:00 pm last night by his choice.  He is still sleeping on and off.  He is still on a pump for pain but I believe they will wean him off sometime today and get him on meds that are not as strong along with Tylenol.  He is also on an antibiotic which is common after surgery.[...]

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13

We arrived at hospital at 8:00 am and headed to have the FMRI performed.  All went well … Brian is amazing!  He wanted to see the results of the FMRI.  He asked great questions.  The Doctor walked in and asked Brian … how are you?  Brian said, more importantly, how are you?  He asked if the doctor was well rested.  LOL  He cracked everyone up including the doctor. They took him on time at noon to get him prepped for surgery starting at approximately 1:00 pm.  And … here we wait!  Please continue to pray, pray, pray!  [...]
