11/24

Callahan is having her surgery today at 1pm. We are asking for prayers over her surgery and specific prayers for the doctors and nurses to have wisdom during the surgery and for Cal's leak to fully heal through this process. We are also asking for prayers over her, for patience and peace during the process.[...]

11/21 Update

It's been a tough week for Callahan! She has fought through 5 days of severe headaches and body aches while enduring a lumbar drain. Yesterday she was given the news that she will have to undergo endoscopic nasal surgery to repair the CSF leak. She will have her Neuro surgeon and ENT surgeon performing this procedure. Although this wasn't the outcome Callahan wanted she understands the importance of having this procedure done. [...]

11/19 Update

11/19

We are now on day 6 at Hartford Hospital. The Lumbar Drain was clamped Tuesday evening and they are watching her clinically to see if the brain fluid will start leaking from her nose again. Callahan is still experiencing severe headaches and body aches and has been a struggle every minute for her. It has been a long week for her and she is absolutely exhausted from the pain but is still fighting through everything and remaining the strong Cal we all know 💪🏼[...]

11/14 Weekend Update

Saturday 11/14, Callahan made it through the lumbar drain procedure and is now resting. She is in great spirits but we still do not have an answer if the drain will work fully without surgery. Please continue to pray for healing and that the leak will stop with the lumbar procedure. We should know by the beginning if this week if surgery will be necessary. Regardless of the outcome we are praying for peace and comfort over Callahan during this time 🙏🏼💕[...]

11/12 Update

Callahan has been doing so well with her therapy and getting stronger every day 💪🏼

We unfortunately had a set back today. We got the news that Cal has brain fluid leaking from her nose. She will be admitted to Hartford Hospital tomorrow to start a lumbar drain to see if they can fix the defect/leak. If this doesn't work they will have to do surgery 😔There are a couple of options for the surgery and we are so glad we caught it when we did!

We are calling all of our prayer warriors to cover Cal through this process! We are praying that this can be taken care of non-surgically. We also ask for prayers of peace and comfort as she goes into unknown territory and for complete healing. Please keep the doctors and nurses in your prayers as well for wisdom and understanding to take best care of our girl as she will be in the hospital for 7 days ❤️🙏🏼[...]

11/3 Update

It has been two weeks since Cal has been home and it has been so awesome to see her heal more and more every day! She is adjusting really well and she has told us that being home is the best therapy she could ever have! They also say laughter is the best medicine and that could not be more true with how her witty comments keep us non-stop laughing 😂Cal has the best sense of humor! And Kingsley (our youngest pup) has been the best support dog for Cal during her recovery snuggling and keeping her cozy every night ❤️[...]

10/20 Update

We are so excited to announce that Callahan has just finished her last therapy session at Gaylord Hospital! 🎉🎉🎉Another awesome milestone conquered 💪🏼Her mom and I went this morning to do PT training for when she arrives home. Today will be the last day we walk out of the hospital without Callahan.

Tomorrow we will pick her up at 11:00am. Our hearts are filled with so much joy 🙌🏼😍We are so thankful for answered prayers and are looking forward to the next chapter in Cal's journey. She will begin outpatient PT/OT therapy twice a week and start attending several follow up appointments. [...]

10/10 - 10/13

Saturday through Tuesday was tough for Cal. Her headaches are bad and she is having a tough time sleeping with anxiousness about being away from home. With each day she has been improving! Today I watched her get right out of her bed and grab a lemon squeezer. I smiled and said "omg! you're doing great!"[...]

10/10 Update

Well, it has been a little over a week since Cal has moved to Gaylord rehab and it was a week to celebrate how far she has come!

The team met about Callahan's case and gave her a tentative discharge date of October 28th. Cal has been cleared to have regular food and she is so excited about that! 🙌🏼She immediately knew what she wanted and asked for pickles. She was also able to have a Salty Dog, which is her absolute favorite drink. We all know how much Cal LOVES lemons!! 😍[...]
