10/6 Update

Cal is doing well! She is struggling with being at Gaylord and just wants to be at home in her own bed. It's hard to be alone in a strange place and not knowing how long you will be there. All three of us continue to share in her journey and go visit her daily. We keep telling her she is in the best place for her to make a full recovery!

Today all of the different therapy disciplines meet and discuss Callahan's case and make the plan for the week. They will continue to do this every Tuesday. Callahan is eager to see what they come back with and how long she will be at Gaylord.[...]

10/3 Update

Callahan is getting settled in to Gaylord. It's really hard for her to transition and doesn't feel like herself. 😔

They have started to get he to walk some which has been difficult so far. She is also still having difficulties when she tries to talk. They are also having her wear these special glasses to help her right eye movement. Since she has arrived at Gaylord they have been really focussing on doing all of their assessments on her. On Tuesday they will be able to give us a full encompassing game plan on her recovery at Gaylord and a tentative discharge date.[...]

10/1 Update

Callahan officially got the feedback tube out yesterday and just left this evening to head to the Gaylord Rehabilitation Center!

Jim and I just kissed Cal as they put her in the ambulance headed to Gaylord! She gave us a thumbs up and and a smile. Although she is scared of what to expect she said "I'm getting out of here in 2 weeks". We told her you keep that fighting spirit! That's what's going to get you through this next part of your journey!

She is so loved and we are so thankful for everyone's support. We couldn't do this without each of you 😘🙏🏼#prayforcal[...]

We couldn't be more excited for this news. Now the major therapy begins and we can finally get our Callahan back 😘

We will update back here once she is settled. Thank you all for continuing to pray so hard. It is working! God has been showing our family how to trust and lean on him through all of this 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼[...]

9/29 Update

Cal is doing a little better today. She does have unbearable pain where they took the tubes out of her lungs and still being on the feeding tube and now allowed to drink any water is extremely difficult for her. Even though it's not easy, Cal is persevering through![...]

9/28 Update

Update for Monday, we got to visit Callahan again today. She did better today but did not pass the swallow test 🙁I had a good few hours with her and she asked me to wash her hair and play some music. She picked Adele, of course 🥰We had a great talk with her as I helped wash her hair. [...]

9/24-25 Update

We got to see sweet Cal on Thursday as well as Friday!

Her lungs are getting stronger and we are hoping that one of the tubes will be removed in the next day or so. She is trying really hard to talk! She is still on the feeding tube though and she will have a swallow test on Monday. This is the biggest need for prayers right now 🙏🏼

Thursday, Cal's dad, mom and Kelly visited her and she wanted them to lay in the bed with her. She wanted to be close and told each of us that she loved us so much 🥰Thursday night we did get a call at midnight that Cal had fallen out of the bed. They think she got confused and was trying to get up. They did a ton of scans to make sure she didn't incur any additional injury or make her current situation worse. She is okay! [...]

9/23/20 Update

We got to see Callahan today after 2 weeks 🙌🏼Our hearts are full as we left the hospital. Callahan looked great considering all she has been through. She is extremely frustrated and anxious which is normal for this part of the recovery. This part of the recovery is now her going through the process of grieving everything that she is gone through. Although it's tough we have to remember that we have had a few weeks to process before her. [...]
