Dear God and Universe and Edie,
Thank you for the generosity of friends and strangers to assist in Liza’s healing. Thank you for the beauty of sunrises that remind me of your miraculous power and grace. [...]
Prayers are working! The day started with a 4am CT scan during which Liza squeezed the hand of the tech. When Jack and I removed her socks several hours later, Liza quickly wiggled her happy toes and then gave Jack a serious hand squeeze. Her boyfriend who had stayed the night left just as her AVL friend stopped by. Liza slept through an outing into the sunshine but nonetheless got a helping of Vitamin D. Shortly before her afternoon radiation, she puckered up again for a kiss!
This evening my friend from AVL via Pittsburgh is treating Liza using Japanese pressure points while we are treated to dinner.
Please continue to pray for more responses, Liza’s strength, and the shrinkage of the tumor!! ❤️🙏💪⚔️[...]
It was a long night of prayer. Amy Winehouse’s Valerie was the soundtrack to my fervent pleas for Liza’s strength and responsiveness. Liza brings great joy whenever she sings it alone or among friends whether with a microphone or a spoon or spatula in hand.[...]
Not much to report. Liza got outside for “sunshine privileges” and a sweet doggie pet but otherwise she slept today - and received radiation of course! Since her beautiful kisses yesterday, she’s had no responses. That’s not completely surprising and as Jack says, “you can’t have a rainbow without some rain.”[...]
Today I have a story for those praying for Liza….
In 2008, Liza’s older sister (then almost 10) succumbed to the effects of her rare genetic disorder, mucopolysaccharidosis type 1 (MRS 1). A few days following her death, my good friend ,who often sees people who have died, told me that Edie had visited her. “You should’ve seen her. She looked like an Amazon warrior. She was probably around 19 or 20 and was very striking.. powerful.” At the time it made no sense that tiny Edie who had never weighed more than 36 pounds would be transformed into a powerful warrior in the afterlife. Today it makes perfect sense. [...]
Preliminary results were in today from Liza’s biopsy: she has a grade 4 astrocytoma glioma… what the drs thought.
I’m not Googling bc I know it’s not good. What I do know is there are exceptions and miracles can happen. So I’m hopeful, especially knowing Liza’s incredible spirit!
This afternoon she finally had her 2nd radiation treatment, a CT scan, and then the G-tube surgery to replace the feeding tube irritating her nose. Aside from a solid eyebrow raise for Dr Peel midday, Liza had no other responses - until I told her I wanted to kiss her before she went into surgery. I leaned over and she immediately puckered up… twice! 🥰 Within the hour surgery was complete and she was back in the room where her boyfriend had just arrived.
One more hurdle behind her![...]
Time for action, Liza-loving Prayer Warriors!
At 2ish she'll have another CT scan. Pray for the best results possible: a shrinking tumor!!
Following the scan, she'll have radiation and then surgery to place a feeding tube in her belly.
Extra good vibes and prayers for strength and resilience - and more responses for Mom![...]
Dear God and Universe, guide Liza’s brain in battle and give us all courage, strength, and fortitude to march forward with the waking Walking Talking Warrior Princess.
-Amen[...]
Thank you for all the texts at 2:45 ensuring your prayers for Liza as she entered radiation!! My understanding is that it will continue on the same treatment schedule. If our prayers are answered, the radiation will detect those tumor cells as they divide and destroy them straight away.
Other highlights of the day: massage by Charlotte, toe wiggles to let me know she needed music, and a very intentional hand squeeze for Dr Tawk (neurosurgeon)💪.
Liza will likely get a feeding tube tomorrow or Wednesday when she's not in her 3pm treatment - kicking tumor butt.[...]
Dear God and Universe, thank you for the many gifts that you provide each of us daily. Today and all week, please be with Liza. Help her to understand and guide the army, that is radiation, to shrink and destroy the unwanted tumor lurking in her brain. Allow her and her doctors to locate any other tumors before they can plan any sneak attacks. Enable us and her gifted Mayo team to support her physically and emotionally without fail so that Liza prevails and lives the full life she always imagined. -Amen[...]
