One week on the seizure medication.

Emma has been on liquid Keppra for a full week now, and we have noticed some changes. The first few days she seemed very alert, and her therapists all independently mentioned how focused she was. However, the last three nights she hasn’t slept at all well. She has been waking up any time between 2:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. and remaining awake until somewhere around 5:30 a.m. With this development, Emma has been exhausted during the day, and has been exhibiting tremors, especially in the morning. Clearly being tired is exacerbating her symptoms.[...]

Update

Emma has been doing really well on the new medicine so far. No real side effects that we have noticed, thank goodness! She is very focused and more attentive than usual, and is as much of a joy as ever! We are four days into treatment, so we will keep monitoring and reporting, and hoping for more strides forward! This morning she sat with me long enough to learn how to pull the cord on her Baby Beans doll, which is amazing! We couldn't be more proud:[...]

It's been a while...

Firstly, thank you for sticking around and bearing with us! It's been a long few weeks, but life is good.

Emma is progressing well. She had to go in for another EEG two weeks ago as she was having more staring spells, but for the first time EVER she had a completely normal brain reading! Phenomenal![...]

Fantastic progress!

Emma has started in-home therapy in combination with her three mornings per week at the clinic. There's no denying that the clinic therapy had been bringing her out of her shell, but since the in-home therapy started Emma is a completely different girl! She is engaged, making good eye contact, and talking... a LOT![...]

Wake up call

We are still waiting for the results of Adam's and my genetic test results -- 3 and a half weeks and counting! Patience is a virtue that I'm working on still! They are the key to moving forward as we need all our lab results back before we see a specialist. I'm hoping to hear something by the end of this week. [...]
