If you have never heard about Project Linus, here's the scoop. Volunteers around the country hand create blankets for children who are admitted to a hospital. They give of their time, talent, and materials, so that children who are in scary situations can take comfort in having a special blanket that stays with them at all times during their hospitalization, and that they can take home with them.
