Staying a Little Longer

Levi’s stay in the hospital will be a little longer than hoped.  He needed blood transfusions again yesterday.   And then, we knew something must be going on when all of the usual tactics to make him smile resulted in Mr. Grumpy Pants.  Late in the day he started spiking fevers and will need IV antibiotics to fight off infections as his immune system is low once again from treatment.  He also has another side effect from his treatment called mucositis which can cause a lot of pain.  [...]

Karate Chop!

That is one mighty Karate Chop!

Levi is finishing up his chemo this week. For most of this round, like the ones before, it was rough. Mostly chemo, throw up, repeat. And through it all, he is JUST THE CUTEST. He even says, "I'm sorry" when he throws up, which is just a heart-melter as it's in no way his fault! We are super hopeful that he'll be able to go home again soon, maybe as early as this Thursday. [...]

Yucky Chemo

It was easy to forget just how hard chemo is on Levi because of all of the reasons he gave us to smile during his short break from it.  But, the side effects are back and although he’s fighting through as best he can, we hate that he has to.  He hasn’t had a single hour without vomiting in the past day despite the medications he’s been given to help.  He’s really tired and not as active which we can understand.  But, Beth and Zack are doing their best to keep him going...laying down with him when he asks, trips to the fish tanks, and switching games frequently to keep him interested.  It’s hard, but as Beth said in her summary of the day...he’s still always cute![...]

Chemo is Hard Work

Levi continues to be one tough kid...   Lots of un-fun stuff goes on during chemo weeks but he’s hanging in there.  He’s definitely missing home as he keeps asking to go downstairs on the couch, outside for a walk, and basically anywhere else besides the hospital.  Even worse?  Their internet system for the hospital tv is down so no Blaze and no movies!  Now that’s just cruel for a three year old!
But, we did get good news today as Levi passed the hearing test!   We’re so glad that as tough as chemo has been, it hasn’t resulted in that side effect.  Keep it up Levi - you’re Amazing as always![...]

Twists and Turns

As Levi’s journey continues, there have been some twists and turns.  As a part of his treatment he needs to get periodic hearing tests as the chemo can impact his hearing.  They found an issue with this latest screen, which means he will need another test today to clarify if his hearing has been impacted.  If so, his chemo will need to be adjusted.  We are glad that there are watching him closely![...]

Back to it

Levi is back in the hospital. This is a planned hospital stay, but it's still tough as he did so great at home. Puts a bit of a damper on the day, no? We all know he needs the treatment to get better, but after seeing him at home it's a toughie. [...]

bock-bock-ba-KAW!

Go ahead and laugh out loud. We did!

On Friday Levi will have surgery to move his feeding tube to his stomach. He will also start his next round of chemo. A lot for this guy in one day. It all needs to happen so he can stay on schedule. We'd appreciate some extra prayers that it goes to plan and that the side effects don't hit him as hard as they have been. He will be in the hospital for awhile so Beth and Zack will be on "rotation" again. And of course, his doggie and brother will be missing him. But for now... hit that PLAY button again for some more belly laughs![...]

MRI Day

Update: The scans showed what was expected - a little less cancer in the brain but still in the spine. Next week Levi will have his kidneys tested so he can continue on with chemo and the feeding tube will be moved to his stomach. No more nose tube!!! Yippee!! So look for more pics with his cute, little Meatball face without a tube. Keep up the prayers as the doctors are making some big decisions on how to proceed. We pray the Holy Spirit and Mother Mary guide them to find the best treatment for sweet Levi. [...]
