Okay, you win Levi, best looking

Levi has enjoyed seeing all of you in your Crushing Cancer shirts, that when he got dressed today, he decided to wear his. No offense, but as good as you all look, we think he looks the best. Yep, it's really not a fair contest. He also struck a "thinking pose" to show us how hard he's been working at his therapies. [...]

Movin' on up...

... to a deluxe room at Iowa Children's... He's a movin' on up...

For those too young or who didn't catch I was going for a sitcom jingle, it's a "The Jeffersons" reference. It's stuck in your head now. You're welcome.   [...]

Back to the ICU

Levi was having more trouble breathing overnight and they have transferred him back to the PICU.   He is having a lot of secretions which seem to be blocking his airway.  For now, they are using a soft collar to keep his airway open and avoid putting him back on the ventilator.   Please send us all of your positive thoughts and prayers that things improve from here and he’ll be back to his penthouse room overlooking the stadium in no time. Quick update

Levi’s continuing to work hard to clear the chemo from his body and with that comes a lot of sleep and not feeling very good.   Another transfusion today, still on antibiotics, and getting nutrition through his iv for now.  It’s a marathon every day for this little man.[...]

Baby steps

Levi has continued to have fevers, but they now think that they know what is causing it.  He will be getting a change in medications.  That means that he needed to get another needle stick and iv line since these meds can’t be given in the same tubing as chemo meds.  Boo! [...]

Small victories

Another really rough night and morning for Levi. He was throwing up every hour and he had a fever of 103°F. He's now on antibiotics, steroids, and anti-nausea drugs. The drugs seem to be working, at least a little bit. His fever is down to 100°F and he has not thrown up for two hours or so he is able to rest (and Beth can rest a little too). [...]

No fun ☹️

Our tough little man keeps battling through but it’s been another rough day.   More vomiting and he is now having fevers.  They continue to check for a source of infection while trying to treat his symptoms. And for Levi, what’s even worse is that his favorite Blaze show keeps getting interrupted by “Yucky” commercials.  Live TV apparently is just another thing that is no fun!   [...]

Sibling Camp!

Today was the start of sibling camp for big brother Owen which is put on through the Cancer Center.  The theme today was “Space” and he thoroughly enjoyed making his alien and rocket ship.  Looking forward to more activities (all of which are virtual!) tomorrow.  [...]

Sunday Playtime

Levi is still feeling the effects of his ongoing chemotherapy.  He will be getting a blood transfusion today to help as his counts are low.   It was another tough night, but we’re seeing glimpses of improvement through late morning and early afternoon.  He did find enough energy to get in some quality playtime this morning and watched an episode of Paw Patrol.  He also had a few bites of mixed berries and applesauce.  Fingers crossed that this stays down...   They also sent some puréed chicken with his breakfast, but Beth wisely avoided trying this first.  Not sure that would be anyone’s top choice as a reentry to food - it certainly wouldn’t make Levi’s list even at the bottom.[...]
