Amazing Levi on the Move

It has been a busy and fun week for both Levi and Owen.
Levi has been doing great in therapies and as you can see has learned how to scoot himself around.   What an awesome feeling it must be for him to be regaining his mobility.  It sure is an awesome feeling for us![...]

Snowy, cold days and updates

Like most families in the Midwest, this week has been full of lots of indoor activities.   Levi has been busy with his therapies and making little strides every day with his strength and movement.  Owen has been doing online school and happy he gets to stay in his pajamas all day.  Both boys have enjoyed having time to play together when the rest of their hard work is done.[...]

Two Amazing Boys

Today we are celebrating two AMAZING boys who have each had to endure big and scary changes over the past year, but are still full of joy, smiles, and endless brotherly love.   And today, we are also celebrating two HEALTHY boys!!!  Levi’s MRI results showed that there has been no growth of his cancer and his spinal fluid tests did not contain any cancer cells.  This means that as of today our Amazing Levi is in remission!!!!   Words cannot express the absolute joy we feel to know that all that these boys have had to endure has led to this moment where we can all take a deep breath.
Over the next 3 months, the focus will now be on helping Levi adjust to the changes in his body due to this cancer.  He will be getting hearing aids as his latest round of chemo caused further damage to his ears.  He will continue physical therapy to help him regain motion of his arms and legs and strength to let him move freely again.  He will have a short surgery to remove his chemotherapy port to have one less foreign object in his body.   And he will work toward trying to eat by mouth again so we can eventually get rid of his feeding tube.   But mostly, he will get showered with ongoing love as he gets to just be a 3 year old boy at home again.[...]

Busy Week

After a relaxing weekend, Levi has a busy week.  He is continuing OT/PT and continues to make strides in his recovery.  Then, he will have additional testing this week including a gull MRI and lumbar puncture.   This requires anesthesia which is never fun.  These tests will allow us to understand the results of his most recent treatment and help to determine the next steps in Levi’s journey.   We are keeping fingers, toes, and everything we can think of crossed that these tests show his cancer has continued to decrease from treatment (gone would be ideal!).   Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers this week![...]

Fun at Home

Levi is so excited to be home.  He has continued to work on his construction skills...now with a new hammer!   And he humored all of us with tasting some strawberries at dinner.   Most of all, his smile muscles have really been getting a good workout.  And, it’s truly infectious as all of us are smiling along with him![...]

Home!!!

Our little man is going home today!!!!   After 42 days in the hospital, everyone, especially Levi, is so excited for everyone to all sleep under one roof tonight.   And, we are in awe of everything our Amazing Levi has done to get to this point...   Big brother Owen and Radar are anxiously awaiting his return and will probably overwhelm him with their attempts to make him laugh.   It will be perfect as all that we have on the agenda for the next few days is filling him up with more love, laughter, and a much needed change of scenery.   [...]

Hard Work

Levi is still working hard with improvement each day.   His favorite part (outside of watching Blaze) is his therapies as they all seem like games to him.   Here he is working with Mommy on jumping jacks and we think his version of jumping jacks are the cutest!   We are still on track to possibly go home this week - Hooray!!![...]

The Drill is Back

Levi has been doing so well the last few days.  He is enjoying picking up where he left off before the transplant tried to kick his butt - obviously it didn’t realize how Amazing and tough Levi is!  He’s been kicking and throwing his soccer ball, going for stroller rides, ninja chopping blocks, and, of course, carrying his drill around in case there is an emergency construction need he has to attend to.  Most importantly, he has been smiling his adorable smile and we can’t enough!   He will continue to work with physical therapy, wean off of medications, and get his tube feeds back up to normal over the next few days.   These are all great things as it means he is one step closer to getting home!   Way to go little man![...]
