Glioblastoma Awareness Day

July 21st has been declared National Glioblastoma Awareness Day. This aggressive brain cancer diagnosis affects about 15,000 people each year.                                            Treatment research is ongoing all across the medical community – worldwide.  Many clinical trials have already been completed, hopefully leading to new treatment options.    Thank you for raising awareness of and supporting these incredibly important, potentially life-saving research projects.  For more information click here.[...]

Unremarkable!

Neither of us have ever been happier to hear the word: unremarkable. Especially accompanied by the words: stable, comfortable.

Eric had lab work and a MRI this week to see how his body tolerated the surgery followed by 6 weeks of chemoradiation. This essentially will provide the new baseline going forward. It was his first scan after the first round of treatment finished. A friend of Johnanna's had  previously had told her that test anxiety was a real thing. Johnanna didn't really understand as we were still in the phase where everything was new and scary. But yes, Johnanna totally agrees, test anxiety is a real thing. [...]

Three Months!

Happy Fourth of July! Eric and I hope that everyone had a happy and safe holiday!

We are celebrating! Not only the Fourth of July but also Eric's three month mark! That's right! We can hardly believe it too, but Eric's diagnosis and surgery were on 4-5-2021! Cheers to hitting the three month mark! [...]

Desert Exploration

My apologies for the double post! I realized this morning after posting that we were home that I completely forgot to post about our last SLC adventure! In keeping with the 1:1 treatment: adventure rule, this past weekend, we decided that the last adventure called for a special adventure. We decided to pack up our adventure gear and head toward the San Rafael Swell. We knew it would be hot, but so would SLC. It was 102* in SLC when we left. [...]

Home! Sweet, Home!

HipHipHooray! It's so good to be back on Montana soil!

Eric successfully finished his last radiation treatment yesterday (30/30!) and saw all of his physicians. His lab results continue to show that his body is handling chemoradiation treatment well. His care team remains impressed with Eric's ability to remain active throughout all of this.[...]

28 Down, 2 to Go

28 radiation treatments down and 2 to go.

This past week started the final push in Eric's radiation treatment.  His last treatment in Salt Lake City is Tuesday, June 22nd and then he heads back to Helena. In an attempt to support Eric, and offer some distraction, last week family once again descended on Salt Lake City. Julie extended her trip to overlap with Mom and Dad flying in and my crew driving in from Oregon. It was HOT in Salt Lake and so we sought out water. We played in Mill Creek, collecting wish rocks and dipping in the cold water. Johnanna and Julie cooled us down by producing a kiddie pool and pool toys - perfect for hiding from the record heat. We also found the local pool and floated in the little lazy river. It was good to be together and we are excited for this phase of treatment to be complete![...]
