As always, answered prayer, after my request last Thursday night for prayers for Walker, Candy drove him back to AdventHealth about lunchtime Friday. They admitted him in the afternoon back to his beloved 5th fl. This time God put him with a different doctor and this one had a new take on what to do to improve his condition. She ordered a 10 day round of steroids, gave him breathing treatments every 20 minutes, and tried a different muscle relaxant than he ever had before. All this worked wonders! Answered prayers! What difference a new perspective can make.[...]

Hey All
365 days ago Walker was sitting in an ICU bed at Oviedo medical on the morning after his first night in the hospital. His eyes wide with interest in what was happening, in what the doctors were saying, in how his parents were acting. I imagine he wasn’t too worried because he was 19 and in great shape, young and full of life thinking, like his family, that after a few days of antibiotics and fluids he would begin to improve. Thinking he would be heading home soon maybe to miss a week of school, miss a few volleyball practices, a party or two at the most. I’ll be back to my life shortly, back to pursuing my dreams, hanging with my friends, laughing so hard at absolutely nothing, the joy of a new life, parent free, meeting new friends daily on a beautiful college campus in Boca Raton Florida where both his parents went to high school. New Decade New Author[...]
It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for Walker and Candy as they work in synch to stay ahead of various lung issues and chasing blood pressures as Candy calls it. Yes, still getting better but breathing still a daily workout to find a proper balance. Walker takes himself to many of his appointments these days managing his ever present oxygen tanks in tow. Our prayer ask for Walker would be for supernatural healing of his right lung and a renewed focused direction for his physical therapies.[...]
As Christmas quickly approaches, we started preparing early this year to bring out the spirit of Christmas joy which always seems to soften the blows of a difficult year. No matter how the year has gone, we can count on the spirit of the love for the Christ child to renew our souls, refresh our hardened hearts, and bring sweet smiles to our kids faces. To think that the creator of all that is would break into our world by birthing a child is profound and truly breathtaking, this knowledge, if we allow it, permits us to break into Gods world.[...]
It’s been almost a month since my last post and since then things have been pretty steady overall. Walker continuing to improve a little each day and family healing a little each day slowly returning to a “new” normal. Walker gaining more independence, driving a lot by himself going to rehab, out with friends some, picking up his sister from school and so on. Candy needing to take care of Walker full time managing appointments, oxygen deliveries, dialysis appts, medication schedule, taking stats regularly etc….. We are coping well and adapting to life in 2019-20.[...]
We are 3 plus weeks past our last ICU stay, Candy has been successfully managing Walkers care keeping him on track and improving. We are all feeling good that we are on the upswing that we have turned a corner, cleared a massive hurdle, breathing a little easier today. Knock-on-wood. Thank you Lord!![...]
